hi mteam,

thats it, thanks for the info. i edited out your ip, didnt have time to finish a reply.

have you had a malware problem recently that you got rid of?
does your web page viewing seem to get redirected now?

i dont see what spybot sees in the ipconfig info you provided.

try this:

start>run, type in the window cmd

at the prompt type in:

1)ipconfig /release (there is a space after ipconfig)
click enter

2)ipconfig /renew
click enter

hi mteam,

ok thanks for the info. i believe it is a harmless registry leftover. your default gateway, dns servers from ipconfig info both resolve to:

Winchester
Hampshire
SO21 2QA

the ones flagged by spybot resolve to:

San Francisco, CA
US
-------------------
before we do anything, let me try and find out how spybots new tcp/ip plugin figures into all of this. its a new component of spybot and iam not familiar with it. i will post back.

hi mteam,

pretty sure its a leftover, your not getting redirected, ip config info looks ok, last log looks ok as far as malware goes. what about avg antispyware is it flagging anything?
we can either get spybot to ignore the item or attempt to remove those lines from the registry. up to you.

hi mteam,

question: you have spybot "fix' it everytime?

before we do anything please do this:

go to start>run and type in regedit, then ok-windows registry will open start in the left pane by clicking the + signs next to the folders--- drill down to this clsid:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\{685F9A67-734F-4F2C-B02E-7FD99FE94FC9}

click on it in the left pane>>{685F9A67-734F-4F2C-B02E-7FD99FE94FC9}
-- then at the top go to file>export, give it a name in the File name window with the extension as .txt
save as type> change to all files. save it somewhere, then post that saved info in next reply.

hang on to that exported text file for now in case it has to restored back into the registry.

do this also please:
go to start>run type in cmd, at the prompt type in nslookup then enter-- it should return your routers ip address 192.xxxxx

hi,

thanks for the info.

nslookup address 194.xxx.x.xxx do you need me to give you the full ip address
no thats good i believe those are B.ntlworld.com dns servers

>>>skip to bottom if you are not intrested in this<<<<
--------------------------------------
i have been reproducing this on one of my computers. there are no web page redirections involved. the server must be collecting surfing habits as i captured my search queries being logged by the server at 85.255.xyz

spybot flagged it:
Zlob.DNSChanger: TCP/IP Settings #1 (Undefined) (Registry change, nothing done)
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\NameServer=208.67.220.220,208.67.222.222

note the ip is the same as yours. i found out spybot replaces the (unwanted) dns servers with open servers. these must be the open (good) dns servers:
208.67.220.220,208.67.222.222

my ipconfig/nslookup info clearly shows the unwanted dns servers:

these:85.255.xyz.xyz

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1

DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.2.1

DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 85.255.116.166

85.255.112.151

Lease Obtained. . . . . . . . . . : Saturday, July 07, 2007 5:47:01 PM

Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . : Saturday, July 14, 2007 5:47:01 PM

and the nslookup:

Default Server: 85.255.116.166-xbox.dedi.inhoster.com
Address: 85.255.116.166

and the registry:
"NameServer"="85.255.116.166,85.255.112.151"
"Domain"=""
"DhcpNameServer"="85.255.116.166,85.255.112.151"

i dont see this ip in your info, however i do recognize that ip address as a web redirector. see here

http://security-central.us/SafeHex/trojan_downloader.htm
-----------------------------------

you may be ok as i dont see any of this in your logs-- but it will not hurt to run this anyway:

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

Once the desktop loads please post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log.

hi mteam,

i think i said it dosnt redirect web pages, it does.

i dont get why it didnt show up in your ipconfig info (the ip's 85.255.114.26,85.255.112.79) or nslookup.

it was all over the place on my computer, and you surely would have noticed the redirects when using a search function. maybe those are just leftovers, dont know now.

in any case the rest of the log looks ok

Hi shelf life

about 6 months ago everytime i did a search on google it sent me to a different page so i changed in tcp/ip properties to obtain ip addres automatically and that seemed to cure it.I wonder if that was it anyway i've rescanned with spybot and its come up clean so thanks alot
