View Full Version : What are these? please help.
Everytime i run AVG i get these three things.
user32.dll
Kernel32.dll
ntoskrnl.exe
and for some reason my itunes and my windows media player doesnt work now.
are these files corrupt, viruses, key loggers or what? what can i do to get rid of this? thanks. AVG says the result is changed.
Have a look here, this is from the AVG forum:

In particular, from this post by Big Al 43:
It is normal that AVG shows that files, the MBR or Boot record to have changed. These are done during normal maintainance, when you or windows updates files or have had to correct errors on the drive. The only time that you should worry is if they also show as infected.
Ahh thanks for the help man. So these files are errors or not installed properly due to a windows update? im glad it isn't a virus or anything but its still annoying as hell to see those 3 things show up on there. Last time i did a check a long time ago nothing showed up as a virus or as changed. What can i do to better protect my self against Trojans, key loggers, mal and adware etc? i have spy bot,avg and avg anti spy ware and ccleaner what else can i do to find if there is any hidden viruses or key loggers or something?
As I understand it,AVG is pretty much just alerting you that the files have changed,so long as it isn't also saying they are infected.
If you'd like AVG to stop reporting them as changed, this was posted by Big Al 43:
To get AVG to quit showing them as changed, open the AVG Test Center, click the F3 key on your keyboard and tell it to accept the changes. If it still shows something as changed after this.. delete the file named AVG7QT.DAT in the %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\avg7\ folder and AVG will rebuild it the next time it is run.

You might want to have a look at this prevention page, which also has links at the bottom to other prevention pages, etc.:

I used to have a list stored somewhere, but I seem to have lost it.But,in general,I like to do an online virus scan once in a while:

http://www.pcpitstop.com/freescan/
There's an online trojan scan,too:

And there's a post here,about keeping Java up-to-date:
