Hello again,

I have recently been helped by Shaba, he/she helped me clean out my system. Because he/she did such a good job, I thought of this site to help me with my current problem, on my friends computer.

Story: my friend's laptop was working fine; however, she accidently clicked on an E-mail, and it downloaded some sort of mass E-mailer to her computer. This mass E-mailer would send E-mailes to random E-mails. So she asked me if I could take a look and see what I can do.

Steps I have taken so far:

*Downloaded Spybot S & D, updated, and scaned several times (both in normal, and safe mode) until all nasties were gone.

*Attempted the online scaner suggested on the forum, but because of the mass E-mailer, I could be online long enough to get a full scan through, before the E-mailer would start.

*Downloaded, Ad-aware SE, Updated, and scan in normal and safe mode.

*Updated all windows updates

*She already had SP2 installed.

*I removed her outdated Norton anti-virus, and downloaded AVG and updated. Scaned in normal, and safe mode.

However, after doing all of this, I believe I may have fixed the mass E-mailer, it is not running any longer. Which, leads me to this forum. I would like to know if she is free and clear of malware/spyware. Or if further steps need to be taken. After I know she is clear, I will install all of the nessary programs (i.e. spyware blaster, windows defender, personal firewall, ect) so that this does not happen again.

Thank you and here is a fresh HJT log:

Let's start like this: Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.

Download ComboFix from Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Thanks

Please re-read the directions:

All logs should be copy/pasted into topic and not attached unless requested by helper in that format

The HJT log is showing C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_04\, please make sure you restart the computer after making changes so they go into effect.

I am showing this item: O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [NetworkKey] netkey.exe
http://www.castlecops.com/startuplist-11849.html
http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojircbotaj.html

Allows others to access the computer
Installs itself in the Registry
Aliases Backdoor.Win32.IRCBot.v
Unless your friend put it there and knows what it is we will remove it, you can scan it first if you wish:

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) We need to disable your Windows Defender Real-time Protection as it may interfere with the fixes that we need to make.
Open Windows Defender, Click on Tools, General Settings.
Scroll down and uncheck Turn on real-time protection (recommended).
After you uncheck this, click on the Save button and close Windows Defender.
After all of the fixes are complete it is very important that you enable Real-time Protection again.

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O2 - BHO: SDWin32 Class - {57F49829-2D12-4A64-8A68-FDFD9278CD37} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\lonpd.dll (file missing)
