I have a machine with the virtumundo malware. I have run a HJT with the file name changed to scanner. I am in need of assistance please.

Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

Since I see damaged Vundo files in the HJT log, may I assume you have made some attempt at removing Vundo already? What I need to know is what tools you have used so far. Post that information in your next post.
Please read and follow these directions carefully.

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) Ad-Aware 2007 <<< this is new and we find spyware programs will block the changes we must make, turn this program off until you finish, then turn it back on.

4) Disable the Service
Click Start > Run and type services.msc
Scroll down to Net Agent and right click on it.
Click Properties and under Service Status click Stop, then under Startup Type change it to Disabled.

5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

6) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\yubsmjyl.dll <<< delete that file

C:\WINDOWS\dls0523pmw.exe <<< delete that file

(if either file gives you trouble, use this tool and instructions)

7) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and have a look at the log, if those 015 Trusted Zone items return I would like you to follow these directions. If they are gone, no need to run DelDomains.inf

Download the attached zip file and unzip it to your desktop.

Right-click on the deldomains.inf file and select 'Install'

Then restart the computer again and post a new HJT log. Let me know how the computer is running at that point.

I used symantec antivirus 10, spybot 1.4 and adaware 2007. I will have the user use the computer and get back to me since it is a remote pc. Booted up fine so far.

Thanks for returning your information and the feedback. You can rename HJT to HijackThis.exe if you wish. I missed one line of junk, please use HJT to remove this line:

ATF-Cleaner is a nice small tool and they may keep it if they wish. The HJT log appears clean of malware. I can provide you with additional scanners if you feel the need to check for hidden junk, but you are running some good programs, let me know if you want an additional scan. I suggest you do this now.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
