Hi, I am new to this forum and pretty much a luddite.

I have been running ad-aware and spybot S&D and spywareblaster, and I go to pretty tame sites. But spybot S&D told me that it found, but could not get rid of StarWare. I get the message:

"some problems couldn't be fixed; the reason could be that the associated files are still in use (in memory). this could be fixed after a restart."

But it is not fixed after a restart and rerunning of spybot or ad-aware. I have looked over this site, and as advised, tried to run eTrust, but got a message saying "ftp connection failed" or words to that effect, so it isn't loading the "signature files" that I seem to need to run it.

What should be my next step?

Thanks.

Welcome to Safer Networking, if you still need help and are not receiving it elsewhere, it appears you have missed some important instructions our administrator has posted at the top of the forum, especially this: "BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please read and follow all instructions and post all required logs or reports, anything less will slow your process.
Use "Post Reply" to post the information in the instructions and stay in the same topic.

I would suggest you start with the directions, they are posted above and at the top of the forum. I am not sure if I can help and won't know until you do.

Thanks
