Virtumonde? Tiny.id? random pop-ups, help!

Hi. This is my first time here. Hope I've posted correctly. Two days ago my BF stared getting pop-ups and many, many detections when running adaware, AVG and spybot. Spy bot found virtumond and some Win32s. Spybot couldn't delete. Though I deleted the infected filed manually. Now AVG is finding and has quarantined Downloader.tiny.id. Pop ups keep coming. Create own folder for HijackThis to desktop.

Move HijackThis.exe into that folder.

Rename HijackThis.exe to scanner.exe and post back a fresh HijackThis log, please :)

Unfortunately no.

Create own folder fo HijackThis to desktop and move it to there (I used name HijackThis for folder as an example, you can name it whatever you want):

C:\Documents and Settings\Craig\Desktop\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe

Rename HijackThis.exe to scanner.exe:

C:\Documents and Settings\Craig\Desktop\HijackThis\scanner.exe

After that, post a fresh HijackThis log, please :)

Yes, now much better :)

Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

1. Download combofix from one of these links:

2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.

Then drag the ComboFix-Do.txt into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.

Sorry - I'm confused.

I have Norton Anti-virus on that computer and run scans at least 2-3 times a month. Are you telling me to uninstall that program? If so, can you explain why - is it not a good anti-virus software? This is the software the IT person at my job told me to install. If I have a choice, I would like to keep Norton as I've used that software for years and am comfortable with it.

As for the firewall, that computer does not run windows XP but it is using a windows firewall. So, I should install a new one? I've not heard of any of these sites or vendors so I am, hopefully understandably, a little wary to download something from an unknown source. I hope you aren't offended that I would like to do research on them before I download and install.

Those are the best free firewalls that exist. Any of them is greatly better than windows own firewall.

So, install one of them and post back a fresh HijackThis log, please :)

Hi

Please do an online scan with Kaspersky Online Scanner (http://www.kaspersky.com/downloads/kws/kavwebscan.html). You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
The program will launch and then start to download the latest definition files.
Once the scanner is installed and the definitions downloaded, click Next.
Now click on Scan Settings
In the scan settings make sure that the following are selected:

o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:

+ Extended (If available otherwise Standard)

o Scan Options:

+ Scan Archives
+ Scan Mail Bases

Click OK
Now under select a target to scan select My Computer
The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run. Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
Now click on the Save as Text button
Save the file to your desktop.
Copy and paste that information in your next post.

Note for Internet Explorer 7 users: If at any time you have trouble with the accept button of the licence, click on the Zoom tool located at the right bottom of the IE window and set the zoom to 75 %. Once the license accepted, reset to 100%.
