I have tried all the help everyone has given. Spybot still freezes at differnet stages of the scanning. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, 1.4. I have set priority to lowest. What else can I do? I have 4 other computers in my house and this is the only one that I am having a problem with.

What was it you had tried so far?
Does your system happen to use hyperthreading technology?If so,you might try this:

There are also various other things listed to try here:

I have set priority to lower, ccleaner 3 times, chkdsk and fix 3 times, defrag 2 times, uninstalled and reinstall spybot 1.4 2 times, unchecked create back up and uncheck restore I have ran shredder 3 times. I have 4 systems all running the exact same things and this is the only one this is happening to.

Wow,you really did your homework,you've tried a lot of things. :) You might like to recheck create backups,though,if you haven't already.

As I remember,I think hanging/freezing at different points in the scan seemed to happen alot when people had problems with Spybot and HTT.Do you know if your system uses Hyperthreading Technology?If so,you might like to try this,it'd be worth a shot:

No my system is not HTT. I will check the backup file. Do you know why this happens to one system out of 4 on the same network, while all systems are exactly the same? Any help would be greatly tried.

No,sorry,I don't know for sure.
This might not work,but you could try a scan in safe mode,and see if it doesn't freeze then.Let me know how it went.

Instructions for safe mode scan,from:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=3922

Reboot your computer into SafeMode by doing the following:

* Restart your computer
* After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, begin tapping F8.
* Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu should appear.
* Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode.
Open Spybot-S&D while still in safe mode.

* Close all browsers, check for problems and fix everything found in red
* Repeat until no more items are found in red
* Close Spybot-S&D
* Reboot back into Windows

My computer will not go into safe mode by using F8 I am still trying to run spybot. Am trying to figure out another way to get this dang thing to work.

Well,if you have 4 computers all running the same things,and Spybot is only freezing with one of them,then it is doubtful something is tripping up Spybot,so safe mode might not be needed.But,if you do boot into safe mode it limits what starts with Windows,and that would tell you if there might be too much running,etc.,when you run a scan.So,if you do want to try that anyways,here's a page with other ways to get into safe mode,it's up to you.

How did you uninstall Spybot before?

Directly from your web page

I was wondering how you uninstalled it,whether from add/remove programs,or following their page that has the very small fix.
http://www.spybot.info/en/howto/uninstall.html

Also,why does your computer not go into safe mode using f8?Is that normal for you,or did you try to go to safe mode and it didn't work?

What operating system do you have?

And,maybe a Spybot log would give a clue or two to what might be happening.
*Open SpyBot, check for and get any updates available.
*On the toolbar menu select mode and switch to advanced mode, on the left lower down select tools, and view report, ensure all the options are selected near the bottom except

* Uncheck[ ] do not report disabled or known legitimate Items.
* Uncheck[ ] Include a list of services in report.
* Uncheck[ ] Include uninstall list in report.

* Now select (near the top) view report.
* Click export and in the 'save in' box choose a place such as your my documents folder, then in your next post near the bottom select the "browse" button; navigate to and attach or post that report.

Hm, the only thing left is a hardware error, a problem with some files or malware which could cause that.

Is there much dust in the computer? Does the CPU fan runs correctly? If the system is getting to hot it could provoke a memory reading error. If there is too much dust then please try to remove the dust before doing scan.

Where exactly does the scan freeze. It may be helpful to know that. There is a tool from Microsoft which can monitor the file activity:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/utilities/filemon.mspx

Just run Filemon before starting the Spybot-S&D scan. By the way, do you have added any download directories in Spybot-S&D? If yes, please try to remove them.

For checking if malware is the clue please attach the Spybot-S&D log file which Zenobia has requested.

Please continue to give us your feedback. It could help other users as well.
