Mc Afee AV disabled by start up sequence

Problem began after I installed SpySweeper, but has persisted even after I uninstalled it. The icon in the systray indicaates that on-access scan is disable but when I right click, it indicates that it active. I have to then "disable" it and then "enable" to get it active. At the same time, the battery power icon also disappeared from the systray.

I have run Adaware, SpyBot and McAfee AV, updated versions, as thoroughly as I could. System seems clean. Ran Hijack This v.1.99.0.1 The log is pasted below. This is the first time I have posted to this forum and did not see the process for notification about a response. If there isn't an automated notification, please email me directly to alert me. Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

Not a good idea to post a valid email address in an open forum, bots are looking for those.

I am not real sure you have malware problem and you posted your log in Safe Mode so I do not know what I am not seeing. If you still want us to try to help, please do this.

1) Read and follow the directions.

2) Give more more information, if you think it is malware, describe the symptoms, post any error messages you receive "word for word".

3) Post a new HJT log in Normal Mode, do not post in Safe Mode unless requested. I see nothing that looks like malware in your HJT now but I will take another look.

Thanks. Will follow steps, although I may first just uninstall and reinstall the AV program and see if it is just a corrupted file.

As a sidebar, also thanks for the advice re email address. I actually knew that but was so frazzled by the quest that I goofed. Is there anyway to edit it out or to delete the thread or is the barn door locked?

I edited the email addy for you, I have it if we need it, but it's rare I need to email anyone. You can try what you said with McAfee if you wish, I run it myself (VSO) untill the subscription ends. They went crazy with the next version so I will move on. I can say it is not easy to uninstall and reinstall, so good luck. One way or another I need to see a HJT in normal mode and some information about the trojan if you want help here, which you may not even need?

Thanks for helping me out with my blunder and your advice. I'll see if I fix my problem with the reinstall. If not, I'll go back to your steps. I'll let you know one way or another.
