Can anyone help. I have picked up the Zlob.DNSchanger Trojen. Spybot locates the virus and seems to remove it however it attacks again after each reboot.

I have seen and read several notices on various boards including this one advising of how to remove but each case seems individual and there are lots of warnings about attempting to manually removal may damage my system.

I am concerned I will have no other option than to pay for software to remove this virus as my knowledge of computing is limited.

If someone can point me in the right direction or step me through how to deal with this threat that would be great.

Hi

NO need to go buying anything .. not yet anyway

Download a self-extracting copy of HijackThis from :-
http://downloads.malwareremoval.com/hijackthis_sfx.exe
1. save it to your Desktop.
2. Double-click on the file hijackthis_sfx.exe and it will self-extract into its own folder,
C:\Program Files\HijackThis
3. Go to this folder and run the hijackthis.exe file
4. click Do a system scan and save a logfile
5. Copy & paste the logfile into your next post here...

Hi

Your log is clean ... though you do have 2 anti-virus running.... you should only have one running or they will most likely conflict.../

Please post the spybot log, or at least the entry which keeps returning...

It's past midnight here, I'll check your reply tomorrow.

Steamwiz

Odd things happening here, After our discussions last night Spybot seems to have removed the Zlob virus from my system? I ran a check this morning and no threats found. It still shows in the restore options if you need some proof I was not making this up and wasting your time. Just before I posted this thread I ran Crap Cleaner 1.40.520 to clean up un-wanted files etc..I can only guess Spybot or the CC managed to run a fix. Maybe some good news for other suffering the same problems

This Zlob thing has pestured me for day and days and i am glad to see the back of it. Thank you very much for your help i will recomend the forum to others.

Martinbandit.

Here is a screen print of Spybots recovery page. Hope this gives you some useful info on the Zlob disapearing act. I am still not sure how it was removed but something worked.

Again thanks.

HI

you're welcome ... I did believe you...

If your DNS entries had been hijacked they would normaly have been shown in the O17 entries....

All you have showing are these :-

O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{86E757EE-9CA8-44EC-8FE8-241562BABC86}: NameServer = 208.67.220.220,208.67.222.222
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{90C7021B-EC75-4C65-A31A-BC6BD918E3AE}: NameServer = 208.67.220.220,208.67.222.222
O17 - HKLM\System\CS2\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 208.67.220.220 208.67.222.222
O17 - HKLM\System\CS3\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 208.67.220.220 208.67.222.222
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\Parameters: NameServer = 208.67.220.220 208.67.222.222

Which are legitimate OpenDNS servers

Happy surfing
