View Full Version : Spybot and Avast nonfunctional

I tried to reinstall them, but it didn't work. Also, my computer seems to automatically want to connect to various sites in IE. I'm now trying to keep it offline as much as possible. I believe one of the culprits is hldrrr.exe but I can't find it (all hidden files are shown). My log files:

Hi whatevers

Yes, it sounds like you have one nasty rootkit.

* Download GMER from
here (http://www.gmer.net/gmer.zip):
Unzip it and start GMER.exe
Click the rootkit-tab and click scan.

Once done, click the Copy button.
This will copy the results to clipboard.
Paste the results in your next reply.

Man, the thing is too long to post. I can't even fit it as a text attachment. Is there somewhere where I can upload the text file?

Hi

Run gmer.exe
Click the tab called Processes and click the Safe... button. The computer will reboot and the Gmer screen will open.
Click Files... and browse to the following file:
C:\Documents and Settings\Sherman Yue\Application Data\hidires\rosa.sys
Now click Delete
Also do that with these files:

C:\Documents and Settings\Sherman Yue\Application Data\hidires\hidr.exe
C:\WINDOWS\system32\hldrrr.exe

Now click the Services tab. Click the entries in red one by one with your right mouse button and click Delete... Answer Yes to all the warning windows.
When you've removed all the Service entries in red, reboot your computer.

Re-scan with gmer

I can't seem to get Safe Mode to work. I can get to the boot menu and select Safe Mode. It starts loading, but then it abruptly stops and automatically reboots.

Hi

Please download AVZ (http://z-oleg.com/avz4en.zip)

Run AVZ then click File > System Recovery>Restore Safeboot Reg keys

Exit AVZ.

If still doesn't work, run AVG a-s in normal mode.

Sorry bout the delay. I managed to get Safe Mode running, but AVG is having problems with a certain folder. It can't be read or deleted. I can see the folder in Explorer, but deleting it or trying to see what's in it gives me an error message saying that the folder is inaccessable (access is denied).
