PC just freezes?

I've got a Dell Dimension 5000 P4, using XP, when I click on certain links (hyperlinks?) my PC just freezes?
If I right click copy and paste the links into my browser I can access them, but this is a pain.
I've ran spybot and ad adaware and Mcafee to find any worms or viruses and they say all is ok?
Should I be looking for something in 'task manager'?
Any help greatly appreciated, thank you, omnipeta.
