hello,
I have just downloaded and ran spybot S&D for the first time it found loads of stuff yeah!!!.
Then it declared that it couldnt remove 2 items, and suggested a restart to help eradicate this things.
Naturally I agreed, no the fun begins my PC has caught itself in a never ending loop of start up getting so far and then restarting.
I ahve tried safe mode, starting from last known point etc no joy.
Anybody got any ideas to help resolve this problem.

And before you ask I am doing this on the company laptop.

Hello,

1. Which problems did you fixed?
What were they named?

2. Which version of Spybot do you run?
Do you have installed the latest updates?

3. Spybot Search and Destroy is only free for the private use.
The license agreement is available on: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/paragraphs/spybotsd_license1.html
Corporate users need to purchase a license.
Some more information is available on www.safer-networking.ie
Using Spybot Search and Destroy on a corporate pc without having purchased a license is illegal and violating against national and iternational laws.

Best regards

Hello,
I have no idea what the machine has removed.
I am using the latest version of Spybot (downloaded yesterday)
It is fully updated (dowloaded updates before I began)

The system goes from start up to windows XP first start screen (not the blue start up screen) and then does a restart. Nothing works safe mode, etc.

I saw the bit about corprate license but this is my home system that has fallen over.
sorry I cant supply any more info.
I look forward to your help.

Do you have an xp install disc?

If, as I suspect, by "first screen" you mean the screen with the xp logo, and the progress bar, but the pc then reboots, and goes thru the whole process again and again, you may have a corrupted boot sector.

You can use the recovery console to re-write the boot sector, it worked for me in a similar situation.
(I couldn't get past the screen I described above, safe mode, last known good configuration were no good either...)
