Remnants of Backdoor.Graybird and Dropper.Small.abe?

Hi all,

Helping out my in-laws with their old desktop... :red:

Found a few things AVG Antispyware categorized as Downloaders, Droppers, Adware and a Dialer. Cleaned a few times with AVG and turned off system restore, uninstalled a bunch of games and other programs, now I'm wondering if there's anything left to worry about....

Turn on System Retore if it is still off. We decided a bad restore point is better than no restore point in an emergency.

I'm not really seeing any malware, are there any issues? Since you have AVG Anti-Spyware on board, run a scan according to these instructions:
Follow the directions in this link to run AVG Anti-Spyware, make sure you delete or quarantine anything it finds and save the scan report to post.

Is this pretty definitive evidence I'm clean now? :shrug:

The reason I ask is that there's still some suspicious traffic showing up on my Sygate Personal firewall logs (or maybe it's harmless and I just don't know what it is):

the Remote Host IP addresses here are 130.81.38.102 & 169.254.1.58 and the activity is being responded to by C:\WINNT\system32\DRIVERS\ndisuio.sys, which has been a Windows component hijacked by entrenched spyware in the past.

I think one of these may be a Verizon-owned IP (this PC's ISP), and the other's a special-use IP, so maybe it's nothing after all...

As you can see the scan and you HJT log are showing no issues. Do you have any reason to suspect malware?

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.
