Hello for some reason spybot won't remove this and i think it is also adding advertising.com, casalemedia, doubleclick, mediaplex onto my computer. How can i fix and get rid of this stuff?

Welcome to Safer Networking, if you still need help and are not receiving it elsewhere, it appears you have missed some important instructions our administrator has posted at the top of the forum, especially this: "BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please read and follow all instructions and post all required logs or reports, anything less will slow your process.
Use "Post Reply" to post the information in the instructions and stay in the same topic.

If it is Vundo, it may be hidden, after you install HJT, rename the HJT.exe, call it shadow-sama.exe or something like that. It will look like this:
C:\HJT\shadow-sama.exe Restart and post the HJT log.

Thanks

Thanks for returning your information, and the feedback. You have a Vundo infection which you can remove if you will read and follow the directions.

The scan results show an infected Java cache, please follow these directions:
http://support.f-secure.com/enu/home/virusproblem/howtoclean/cleanjavacache.shtml

I suggest you stay offline as much as possible until I say you are clean, this junk will download more.

Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix.

Please understand these hackers can call there junk anything they wish. Vundofix may not know the files at first, but it will learn. You want to run the fix until you see all Vundo files say: "Has been deleted"

Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThislogin a reply to this thread.Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

If there is a file VundoFix doesn't find we need it submitted. Please submit
the files to upload malware http://www.uploadmalware.com

This is just a start.

Thanks

Thanks for returning the information I requested, here is information about this junk for you:
Since there is a class action involving this one, you may want to view this information:
http://www.networkworld.com/news/2007/030807-mystery-around-winfixer-slowly-unravels.html
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zBUZHiKhsog
http://msmvps.com/blogs/spywaresucks/search.aspx?q=winfixer+msn
http://www.revenews.com/wayneporter/archives/adware-spyware-greynets/getting_the_fix_on_winfixer_aol_network_now/

We still have Vundo infection to deal with:
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5A4A2D56-931A-4733-9121-033A2D95A274} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\efcdede.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: efcdede - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\efcdede.dll

The 020 is the tough one because it starts so early in the boot process. I would like you to run Vundofix again, watching the report to see if it deletes that item. There may be more also, the junk can morph.
If you run Vundofix and you can see it is not removing that 020 item meaning it will not say "Has been deleted" then I want you to do this.

1) Upload the file to Atribune according to the instuctions so it can be added to the fix.

If there is a file VundoFix doesn't find we need it submitted. Please submit
the files to upload malware http://www.uploadmalware.com

2) Open Vundofix by Doubleclicking on it, then point your mouse to the white box above the buttons and right click, then click on Add More Files. When the next window opens, copy and paste the files into the boxes and click on Add File(s), then click on Close Window. Then click Remove Vundo.

The file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\efcdede.dll
add this one also: C:\WINDOWS\system32\khnbjilk.dll
I want to see if the fix will delete it.

Once that has been completed, then do this:

Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.

Download ComboFix from Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Post the Vundofix report, the combofix report and a new HJT log.

Thanks

Thanks for returning your information, you said this:

arg sorry for the 3rd post but I forgot to mention i got a error when I started up windows and logged in saying that it couldn't run khnbjilk.dll
If you notice that was one of the two files I had you add to the fix, I see it has been deleted so that message should have stopped. That is the malware complaining as we remove it. It is harder to remove than it was to get on.

How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\uuuydcnr.dll <<< delete that file (should be gone)

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.
(You may edit out Microsoft, Hotfixes, Security Update for Windows XP, Update for Windows XP and Windows XP Hotfix to shorten the list)

Restart the computer and post the uninstall list, a new HJT log, let me know how the computer is running.

Thanks

Use this HJT tool on that file:

How to use the Delete on Reboot tool
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial42.html#delreb
Start Hijackthis
Click on the Config button
Click on the Misc Tools button
Click on the button labeled Delete a file on reboot...
A new window will open asking you to select the file that you would like to delete on reboot. Navigate to the file: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\uuuydcnr.dll and click on it once, and then click on the Open button.
You will now be asked if you would like to reboot your computer to delete the file. Click on the Yes button if you would like to reboot now.

Thanks

Thanks, I will look for security issure or malware. It is a good chance for you to see what you may no longer use, I will not know all of your programs but you should.

J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 11 see the link:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=12880&postcount=2
download the newest version and uninstall the old. The old one will get you infected.

Java(TM) 6 Update 2 <<< looks like you have the new one, just uninstall the old. I would still check for an update, this looks strange.
Start > Control Panel > Java (small coffee cup) Java Console > Updates Tab > Check for Updates.

Viewpoint Media Player <<< unless you use it, read the links:

Rest looks ok.

Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 9:34:39 AM, on 7/30/2007

Looks clean of malware.

http://www.thottbot.com/ <<< works fine for me, takes me to "Search"
Mozilla Firefox (2.0.0.5) <<< looks to be the newest version, try it with IE, if it works you will know it is a Firefox issue.

Let's have a look with a good scanner for anything hidden. Before you run the scan delete Vundofix, and Vundofix backups, combofix, backups or quarantine. Kaspersky will report anything in those areas and issues.

Run this online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Scanner from http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
* Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
* Standard
* Scan Options:
* Scan Archives
* Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.

Then post it here. If this is clean we will get you on the road.

Thanks

For your information, I have no interest in items Kaspersky does not scan. It is probably the best free scan available just now, if you need more information about the way the scan reports, I suggest you see if tech support at Kaspersky can help you.
If something is showing you did not post, I suggest you talk to whoever else uses this computer, Kaspersky sure did not post them there...or me!!

KASPERSKY ONLINE SCANNER REPORT Monday, July 30, 2007 6:59:14 PM

Number of infected objects: 43

The all appear to be backups in your System Restore files, follow these directions:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/mcgill1.mspx

Your System Restore files should be clean now if you followed the directions. A Kaspersky scan should also find nothing. I have no need to see another scan if that is the case.
