I have Symantec AntiVirus Corporate, but its "Full Scan" option does not find these bugs. However, it has a "Auto-Protect" that runs all the time that catches the little pop-ups for WinFix etc... It says it deletes them, but they always reappear after it tells me to reboot. Then I tried running the eTrust online scan and it came up with no infections. However, I ran it in Safe Mode, does that make a difference? It is a hassle for me to switch back to normal Vista because my Windows Explorer frequently stops responding. So, in lieu of the online scan which insists i have no infections, my HJT scan is as follows: (if i'm doing this right...i really have no idea)

Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop.
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

can you explain why i had to add those files then delete them? it seemed pointless and provided more trouble when i rebooted windows. telling me that the system could not load those dlls when windows started after i had just applied then deleted them. seemed rather odd. anyway, here is the stuff...

"can you explain why i had to add those files then delete them? it seemed pointless and provided more trouble when i rebooted windows. telling me that the system could not load those dlls when windows started after i had just applied then deleted them. seemed rather odd."
I didn't tell you to delete those files, VundoFix deleted those files.
You can't even delete this file manually so easy as you might think -> C:\Windows\SYSTEM32\iifcddd.dll
That file was hooked to both winlogon.exe and explorer.exe and deletion of that requires that you manually stop those processes ;)
And if you do, you will loose desktop etc.
Those error messages were expected (as files don't exist any more).
Open HijackThis, click do a system scan only and checkmark these:

Reboot.
Delete if present:
C:\Windows\system32\unuflbkw.dll
Empty Recycle Bin
Download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/Deckard/dss.exe) to your Desktop. Note: You must be logged onto an account with administrator privileges.
Close all applications and windows.
Double-click on dss.exe to run it, and follow the prompts.
When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt<-this one will be minimized
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt and the extra.txt to your post. in your reply
