No internet access except thru Safe Mode [Archive]

Hello All

I am unable to access internet except thru safe mode. I try normal access, and I geet message "Can't access internet." I can successfully do a system restore to this weekend, and then it works. But I notice that McAfee is going thru downloading updates and I get a reboot system message. I reboot and problem starts again. I ran the spybot system and then the HJT process. Here is the log. Any assistance is appreciated as I need access to login to work. Thanks.

Have you resolved these problems? I not, let me say this may or may not be related to malware and I am not sure I can help, but I will give it a try if you still need it.
For starters, some information for you.

C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\ <<< this program is obsolete, having been turned into Windows Defender by Microsoft. You should uninstall that program. Windows Defender is available free if you need a freeware spyware program. Please do not install any new programs until we resolve your issues.

C:\Program Files\Viewpoint\ <<< this appears to be running, some information:
For your information, Viewpoint is installed by aol probably without your knowledge. I suggest you uninstall this resource waster in Add Remove programs.

1) You say you can't get online normally, have you discussed this with your ISP? That is what the technical folks do, if you have not, I would contact them, this could be a problem with their settings and they should be able to tell you.

2) "Can't access internet" is a bit vauge, here is the Google:

109,000,000 possibles for "Can't access internet", could you please post all error messages you receive "word for word" completely.
Are there any other symptoms that might suggest malware that you can mention?

3) Appears McAfee is your security program, this is not a new installation is it? The reason I ask is the new McAfee program has a firewall and if it has not been properly configured, it may be blocking your normal internet access. You could try turning the firewall of in the McAfee Center and see if you can get online then.

4) Are you aware you are still running Symantec from your NT services:

If you have no reason for this, I would disable that service at least:
Click Start > Run and type services.msc

Click Properties and under Service Status click Stop, then under Startup Type change it to Disabled.

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

7) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart and post a new HJT log. Please give me feedback on the information I supplied and any information I requested, especially any error messages word for word.
