View Full Version : Please help with Vundo
Hello. I need some help getting rid of the last remnants of Vundo. I have tried a lot of things, but the "Winlogon Notify" entries from Vundo keep reappearing. I've tried fixing them with HijackThis in regular and safe mode, but they keep coming back everytime I reboot.
I'm also wary about the O2 - BHO: (no name) (no file) entries but perhaps they're harmless. I've tried fixing them with HijackThis, but they keep reappearing. I'm including logs from HijackThis and ComboFix. VundoFix V6.5.6 finds nothing.
Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v2.0.2

Thanks, please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.
TeaTimer <<< turn TT of until you finish, it will block the changes we must make:
http://russelltexas.com/malware/teatimer.htm
SUPERAntiSpyware <<< turn this program off also, I do not have those instructions.
Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:
(unless you set it like this on purpose)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Restart the computer and post a new HJT log, let me know how the computer is running.
Thanks
Ok. Thanks for the help. Here is the new HijackThis log. The Winlogon notify's are gone...hopefully for good. One thing...I did not delete (yet) the 3 "02-BHO no name no file entries" because when I fixed these before with HijackThis, my computer kept going to the blue screen of death when running UTorrent. It might have been something else, but UTorrent was really the only thing actively running each time it dumped. I've not had the problem since I reversed the changes with HijackThis. Is it possible this was just a coincidence or is it possible these 3 entries have something to with it? If you feel it's ok to delete them again, I'll go ahead and fix them with HJT. Thanks again for your help.
Also, what was that SVPorsche entry? Wasn't able to find any info on what it might have been.

The BHO lines are dead, no files, use http://www.castlecops.com/CLSID.html
To search the CLSID Numbers.
145C4922-557E-4F64-BBF2-C06F583DABC8 <<< does not identify, old malware line
70F68D64-20FB-4659-91A8-A795513E9D27 <<< does not identify, old malware line
AA58ED58-01DD-4d91-8333-CF10577473F7 <<< old google toolbar lines.
If you remove them or not, it makes no difference, they are clutter and benign.
http://www.castlecops.com/ActiveX.html searched for this item: 68253470-5D4F-4CDF-8D9C-353C14A2F013
returns nothing, I have no idea what it is. If it was malware, it is gone, if it is valid, the next time you go there you wil be prompted to download the active X again.
as far as to your questions about uTorrent, the problem is probably being caused by that software. I reallycan't say without seeing the error messages you get. I don't use it and I am not about to.
Thanks

Is there anything else you need?
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
