I hate Virtumonde

I have recently tried to remove Virtumonde from this computer. It has shown up after visiting hxxx://www.mydeathspace.com

I have used Spybot to remove it but it will not. I have downloaded VirtumondoFix, VirtumundoBGone, and FxVmonde. All results in saying it isn't present, but Spybot finds it in registry files that these programs don't find. I have downloaded the HiJack log and will post as follows. I am losing my mind trying to fix this and appreciate all help.

You have leftover Vundo but you have PurityScan/OIN adware and possibly more. If you still have any of the tools you downloaded, delete them, if we need them they must be download new to get updates.
If you wish to proceed with this cleanup and it will take a few steps, start like this.

1) Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.
(You may edit out Microsoft, Hotfixes, Security Update for Windows XP, Update for Windows XP and Windows XP Hotfix to shorten the list)

2) Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.

Download ComboFix from Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log
in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

I can run the HTJ fine, but is the java install supposed to produce the other log you need? I'm a tad confused on where the second one will come from.

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

4) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\WINDOWS\cexerknA.exe <<< delete that file

(this may be gone, check closely for it though)
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\?icrosoft.NET\ <<< delete that folder

5) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post a new HJT log, tell me how the computer is running now.

In the meantime, will I be able to install virus software now? I had downloaded a 30 day trial of PC Cillin but it woudln't install. I figured it was related to the spy programs.

Thanks for returning your information and I will try to answer your questions as soon as possible.

1) Move HJT from the Desktop for safety. I prefer C:\HJT\HijackThis.exe, if you need additional instructions use these: http://russelltexas.com/malware/createhjtfolder.htm

2) Use HJT to remove this dead line like this:

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

3) Yes you need to install a antivirus program and here are three free good ones if you need it to choose from:

Please follow these directions:

1) Open Spybot S&D and click on the suitcase with the red cross. Purge the contents.

2) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

4) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

Thanks for the feedback, let's clean System Restore files like this:

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
