Hi

I have tried to start spyboot several times today - but everytime it seems to hang at the same position - while scanning the 5929/33807 - CoolWWWSearch. Is there any familiar known problems due to this - could it be caused by any spyware which is denying Spyboot to go further ? I ran Adware earlier - and it could find anything serious.... I have read some of the messages due to scanspeed - but it dosn`t seem to be the same problem I have. I tried to let it run overnight last night - but it was still hanging.
I would be really grateful for an answer;

:banghead:

Which Spybot version do you use? 1.3 or 1.4?
Also if you can please find out at which product exactly Spybot hangs
-> CoolWebSearch.******
+ Win-version
+ after which detection update the error appeared

If you are not using a very old system without enough storage it might also depend on how much programms you have on the run when the scan is on and how much they need for storage. It should help to close other programms while you are scanning.

It should help if you run the scan in safe mode. For more informations please have a look at this link:

Generally the type of problem you're having only occurs with Spybot S&D 1.4 if there is some sort of problem in the operating system, either registry or files. Unfortunately, there are a number of different possible causes, including the possibility that malware (virus, spyware, etc.) either currently exists on the system or did some damage in the past.

The best way to fix it might be a log. Please post this in our malware removal forum: http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22

If you can't complete a Spybot scan you just need to run an online AV and post a hjt log.

Thanks for replying so quickly. I have the last version (1.4) - and it was updated yesterday - so it should be the last updates too. The computer should have enough resources.... 3.2 P4, 512 MB RAM.... and no other programs were running ecxept from those who allready runs in the startup...
When trying to scan in safemode - the scan hang up from the start....
I have posted a fresh log in the group you menioned.

madsli: Does your PC have HyperThreading Technology (HTT) capability?

If so, try the temporary workaround found in the following post:

:bigthumb:

Great - it woked out very well when I entered the affinity and switched to use only CPU 0. The hanging-problem was obviously caused by the HTT-technology...

By the way - no spyware was detected.

Thank you for useful help !
