I've ran my avg, spybot and even done the trend mirco house calls but I know I've got a problem because when I've tried to down load Prevx my computer hangs up. I download RegCure the tired to uninstall it and it want let me uninstall it, it just hangs up my computer. I can tell something is running even though it says there is not anything running. I know I've probably messed up things changing setting. Perhaps someone can tell me what to do to get my computer back to normal. Thanks in advance.:spider:

Here is what my log looks like.

hi wcts17skippy,

was that the prevx beta release? i can check for malware but prevx does have support even for trial versions.

you saw this:

"Windows Vista (All versions - 32/64bit - This is a beta release - You must use an Admin type account and disable UAC)."

The Prevx I was tring to download and install was the latest off their website and I took my UAC and disabled it, I finally just went into safe mode and uninstalled it. That's also how I got Regcure off. I figured if I was having that much trouble I could wait to my computer gets straighten out and worry about it then. My computer will just lock up during start up. After start up, or when I go onto the internet or just about any time really. The screen will just go black and then come back on. I had win32/zquest.e on my desk top which I had tried to open the email on this computer (my laptop) that I opened on my desk top and got the virus on. So that’s what makes me think I’ve got something wrong with my computer and with how it’s acting since al this happen. Thanks for replying to my post.:2thumb:

hi wcts17skippy,

the hjt log looks ok. what about avg antispyware or spybot, are they finding anything during a scan?
that prevx is in beta which means it may not be ready for prime time, which could be the result for your problem. in any case you have uninstalled it.
really having two antimalware apps is enough, quantity dosnt equal better protection.
the screen going black then coming back on could be hardware related, not malware. i have to ask: you sure its not your screen saver starting or its going into standby or hibernation. then you hit a key or mouse and it goes back to the desk top?

The black screen comes and goes as it wishes, it does it when I even working it doesn't matter. I don't know what's wrong with this thing I just know my computer start ups up slow, if at all, hangs up during start up, or after, I can be working on something and all of a sudden I'm hung up and I can get it to do a alt, cntrl, del so I can see what's running but I can tell something is runnimg because my computer is just a getting it. Take a look and let me know what you think. :spider:

As for trying to download and use Prexv I had bought a family 4 pack in March and I thought I would at least try it on my laptop since they had the Beta version for Vista, but I guess I'll wait on they still, since I had problems.

Spybot has showed I had Bearshare on my computer with 11 files attached to it. Spybot hasn't found anything but when I ran it today it came up with this caution: There were problems in the include file C;\programFiles\Spybot-Search_Destory\Includes\Trojans.shi See "Included errors.log" for details.

AVG has not found anything since it found the trojan horse SHeur.AFJ Here is what it found.

I followed the link and read what it said and then went and repaired Quickbooks. Looking in Control Panel at my programs Spybot was 8/19 and AVG 8/18. No I haven't loaded any new software. This all started 2 weeks ago this past friday after trying to open a link someone had sent me in an email, then I tried on my desktop and I got the virus win32/zquest.e. But I haven't detected any virus I've just had problems with it locking up and not letting me do anything so I have to hold the power button down to power down. I guess I'll need to take it and get it checked out or reload windows vista.

hi wcts17skippy,

when you do a scan with avg, is it coming up clean? can you post the spybot error log:

There were problems in the include file C;\programFiles\Spybot-Search_Destory\Includes\Trojans.shi See "Included errors.log" for details.

hi wcts17skippy,

the spybot error means that you are missing the tcp/ip plugin for spybot.

see this link:
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?p=114379

still having the black screen? i dont think its malware related. still under warranty be any chance?

Yes it's still blinking with the black screen and it's just about a new laptop I bought it new in March. I also bought the extend warranty so I should be covered all the way around.

I will follow the link and do what it says to correct that error for the missing tcp/ip plugin for spybot.

Thanks for your help and I'll let you know what I find out.

I ran AVG in safe mode and still didn't find anything but it did come up with the below error. I've noticed that when running in safe mode networking I haven't had any problems that I have in normal mode. It has not locked up the first time or the screen has not blinked

After AVG coming up with the error I called the Protection plan department and they said what is happening is the disk is not recognizing Windows so they said to restore it back to factory settings and if that didn't fix it then I did have a problem with my hard drive. And I would need to send it in for them to replace the hard drive. Thanks a lot for all your help. This problem just seemed too weird when it would work sometime, sometime not, locking up, etc. But again, sorry to take up your time but thanks a lot.:crowned:

hi wcts17skippy,

running in safe mode networking I haven't had any problems

that points to driver problems, only a minimal of components are loaded in safe mode.

restore it back to factory settings
thats what they always say, a canned response to a problem

Boot sector of disk C: Reading error Error
you should run scandisk
--------------------------
malware gets the blame for alot of things, but a display going black sounds like hardware or dirver issue to me.

sorry to take up your time but thanks a lot
no problem, you are welcome.

happy safe surfing
