If not, then let's try combofix first:
Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.

Download ComboFix from Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Thanks

unfortanately, i can't do the scan. every time it gets to 99% it gives me this message:

Downloading remote file: master.xml
Update process FAILED. No further antivirus actions can be performed!

Attention, you must be online to activate Kaspersky Online Scanner, since the latest Anti-Virus bases version must be downloaded prior to scan. Otherwise we cannot guarantee detection of latest viruses. [21]

i'm on a wireless internet connection and i was on the internet when it happened. i even tried moving right next to the router. i tried multiple times too. any ideas?

This is strange considering you have Kaspersky as your resident antivirus protection?
Since I see no malware in the HJT log, let's try this. Update your resident antivirus protection (Kaspersky Anti-Virus 6.0) and run a complete system scan. Let me know about any issues. If you have problems updating that program, you need to contact Kaspersky for instructions. If the scan finds nothing, then do this:

Remove combofix and C:\Qoobox\quarantine\ from your computer.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

ok i did a scan from kaspersky and it found 2 files. i deleted those and did another just in case. it was clean, so do you still want me to remove combofix and C:\Qoobox\quarantine\? and if you do, do i delete the combofix file on my desktop, and the combofix folder in the C drive? did i make any sense at all?

I also cleared my system restore points and made a new one. Wow, what a difference. It cleared up like 3 gigs of space. Thanks!

combofix does not update and it is constantly changing so there is not a valid reason to keep it on your computer. Anything combofix removes that is bad it stored in the quarantine folder and other programs see those and think you are infected. So...delete all instances of combofix no matter where you find them. You are right, SR can get out of hand and must be monitored since Microsoft set no controls over it in XP.(other than the max space that can me used) Review those links I provided, then may help enhance performance even more.
I also suggest a free diagnostic at PCPitstop if you have not done do:
http://www.pcpitstop.com/ The report may point out areas you were not aware of.
