Hello Lees129,

Welcome to Safer Networking Forums :)

1. Download this file - combofix.exe (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/Beta/ComboFix.exe)
2. Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
3. When finished, it will produce a log for you. Post that log in your next reply please, along with a new HijackThis log.

Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall.

Thanks,
tea

Hello,

Okay, let's try this one :

Download SDFix (http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.exe) and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
Choose your usual account.

Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum with a new HijackThis log

Thanks,
tea

Yay!! :bigthumb:

You had some yucky stuff in there, and there may be more. :sick:

Please download ATF Cleaner (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1) by Atribune.Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
If you use Firefox browserClick Firefox at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
If you use Opera browserClick Opera at the top and choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
NOTE: If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
For Technical Support, double-click the e-mail address located at the bottom of each menu.

Now I'd like for you to try to download and run ComboFix again. Let me know how it goes, and how it's running. :)

Thanks,
tea

Hello,

Coming down to it now. :D:

I see Viewpoint installed.
Viewpoint Manager is considered as foistware instead of malware since it is installed without users approval but doesn't spy or do anything "bad". This will change from what we knew in 2006 read this article: http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546
I suggest you remove the program now, if you did not install it. Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and remove the following programs if present:

* Viewpoint
* Viewpoint Manager
* Viewpoint Media Player

Reboot your computer afterwards.

Your Java is way out of date, which leaves your computer vulnerable.

Updating Java Download the latest version of Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 6u2 (http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp). Scroll down to where it says "The J2SE Runtime Environment (JRE) allows end-users to run Java applications". Click the "Download" button to the right. Check the box that says: "Accept License Agreement". The page will refresh. Click on the link to download Windows Offline Installation with or without Multi-language and save to your desktop. Close any programs you may have running - especially your web browser. Go to Start > Control Panel double-click on Add/Remove programs and remove all older versions of Java. Check any item with Java Runtime Environment (JRE or J2SE) in the name. Click the Remove or Change/Remove button. Repeat as many times as necessary to remove each Java version. Reboot your computer once all Java components are removed. Then from your desktop double-click on jre-6-windows-i586.exe to install the newest version.

Please delete SDFix, ComboFix and it's accompanying folder C:\Qoobox. Empty your Recycle Bin and reboot once again.

Let me know how all that goes, and a last report on how it's running. :)

Thanks,
tea

Hi!

I successfuly uninstalled Viewpoint Manager and Viewpoint Media Player. I couldnt find Viewpoint but i removed the Viewpoint Toolbar. is that ok?

Java went really well also. when i first downloaded it, i got a button on my desktop named: 1188691511914-integrated.jnlp. i have no idea what that is so i deleted it that one and installed java again, successfully! i other than that, it went fine, i deleted all the other java's, and my computer is running soo smoothly! no more popups or stalls!! Also, i ran Spybot again and there was no VITRUMONDE :D::D::D: but Advertising.com, BlueStreak, DoubleClick, and MediaPlex came up, but those ones were deleted.

so no more spyware/malware?? :eek:
thankss!!

Hello there,

Nope, no more nasty stuff. :bigthumb:

Advertising.com, BlueStreak, DoubleClick, and MediaPlex Those are common cookies. I get those myself. ;)
First thing!!!! Get an AntiVirus installed!!

AVG (http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/), Avira (http://www.free-av.com/) OR Avast (http://www.avast.com/) are good FREE antivirus.
Never install more than one antivirus scanner or firewall on your system! Several together can give you problems and decrease the reliability of it seriously!

Below I have included a number of recommendations on how to protect your computer in order to prevent future malware infections. Please take these recommendations seriously! These few simple steps can stave off the vast majority of spyware problems.

Regularly go to http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com and download all the "critical updates" for Windows, including the latest version of Internet Explorer. This can patch many of the security holes through which attackers can gain access to your computer. You should also turn on the Windows automatic update feature.

You should definitely maintain a firewall. Some good free firewalls are Kerio (http://www.sunbelt-software.com/Kerio-Download.cfm), or Outpost (http://www.agnitum.com/products/outpostfree/download.php)
A tutorial on understanding and using firewalls may be found here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial60.html).

In order to protect yourself against spyware, you should consider installing and running the following free programs:

SpywareBlaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html)
A tutorial on using SpywareBlaster to prevent spyware from ever installing on your computer may be found here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial49.html).

SpywareGuard (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html)
A tutorial on using SpywareGuard for realtime protection against spyware and hijackers may be found here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial50.html).

A tutorial on using Spybot to remove spyware from your computer may be found here (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/tutorial43.html). Please also remember to enable Spybot's "Immunize" and "TeaTimer" features.

IE/Spyad:
It places over 5000 malicious websites and domains in your IE's restricted zone.
IE/Spyad (http://www.spywarewarrior.com/uiuc/resource.htm)

Make sure to keep these programs up-to-date and to run them regularly, as this can prevent a great deal of spyware hassle.

* Avoid illegal sites, because that's where most malware is present.
* Don't click on links inside popups.
* Don't click on links in spam messages claiming to offer anti-spyware software; because most of these so called removers ARE spyware.
* Download free software only from sites you know and trust. A lot of free software can bundle other software, including spyware.

Please consider using an alternate browser. Mozilla's Firefox browser is fantastic; it is much more secure than Internet Explorer, immune to almost all known browser hijackers, and also has the best built-in popup blocker (as an added benefit!) that I have ever seen. If you are interested, Firefox may be downloaded from here:
http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

Please make sure to run your antivirus software regularly, and to keep it up-to-date.

Take care!
tea
