i am unable to open windows xp. i encountered this problem 3 days ago. when i start up iget a window bios utility requesting a password,the first time i entered my log in password and the screen read warning-invalid password, i then entered enter and the screen read system disabled. can anyone help it would be greatly appreciated the computer is a sony vgn fe-790 notebook

There's no way to recover a Sony BIOS password (assuming it's set by Sony during manufacturing) without calling Sony. Even their own user manual don't give you the password.

If has used this laptop before, ask him/her if they had fiddled around with the settings and reset it back. Otherwise, you have to call up Sony and ask them to reset for you.

As far as I know, it's not cheap.

Pompay, this happened to me after a windows crash. I got around it by doing a repair from Windows XP CD. Have you tried that?
