Internet does not work without proxy

I don't know why it works with a proxy but it does.

I can't update any of my anti-virus stuff or anything.

Also, for some reason my sound driver uninstalls itself and i have install them through add new hardware, streaming videos do not work correctly on this computer, and when I try to add an external hard drive it doesn't show up in my computer.

I do not know if I can help with the hardware issues, you have malware and we will try to remove it to see what happens if you still need help. First we have other issues of importance to address.

Internet does not work without proxy
You may have to discuss this problem with your Internet Service Provider for the proper setting?

1) You are running two antivirus programs at the same time and this is not a good thing. They conflict with each other and you will be less safe than if you ran one good program and maintained it properly. Uninstall one, update the one you keep and run a complete system scan, post for me any item that can't be removed, the complete name and pathway.

Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

You are also running System Configuration Utility (MSConfig) in Selective startup mode. Return it to Normal Mode so I can see everything.

It still says v2.132 when I load it up.

Confuses me:scratch: since I downloaded it myself? You are in the USA...correct? The creator is French and the fix is used all over the world. I have an alternative we can use if it comes to that, complete the other instructions (leave out Smitfraudfix) and post a new HJT log, we will try to remove the junk manually and see what happens.

BTW, when I check on my Internet connection, it says its Manually configured. Does that matter?

Tom I am pretty good at removing malware, been at it ten years, but that is a question you need to ask your Internet Service Provider as I am sure I suggested. This is what you pay them for, and there are too many ISP's for me to know all of their settings.

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O4 - Global Startup: palstart.exe

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

4) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup\palstart.exe <<< delete that file

5) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

6) Run this online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Scanner from http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
* Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
* Standard
* Scan Options:
* Scan Archives
* Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.

Then post it here along with a new HJT log and any comments you think will help.

Sounds good, I'll post this information for you now then.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
