I have followed the sticky posts and have run the F-secure online check. will post the log next. I then rebooted in safe mode and have run Spybot twice to get rid of all problems, then I ran HiJackThis and have a current log. will post after the F-secure post.

Just want to check everything is ok on my pc. any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Adam

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

Hello Adam, you show evidence of an infection, I am not sure what it is or what is left, let's investigate some.

http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< download Smitfraudfix from here and follow ONLY these directions.

Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/processutil/processutil.htm

Post the C:\rapport.txt

Thanks

Thanks for returning that report and as you can see at the very least you do have a Smitfraud infection. Let's take care of it and see what that does.

http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< tutorial if needed

Clean:
Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infect files.
You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.
A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Optional:
To restore Trusted and Restricted site zone, select 3 and hit Enter.
You will be prompted: Restore Trusted Zone ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to delete trusted zone.
Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.

Post the C:\rapport.txt and a new HJT log and give me feedback about performance.
This will be my last post tonight, I will not respond again until AM EST Clearwater, Florida.

Thanks

Fadge

Thanks for getting back to me, while the stuff I see looks like a different infection I need to warn you that this junk can continue to download to your computer and you should keep it offline until it is clean. (except when troubleshooting)

You are still infected, please follow these directions carefully:

Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.

Download ComboFix from Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Once again I will say if you are too busy to complete this repair, unplug this computer until you are not.

Thanks

Fadge

1) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) AVG Anti-Spyware: Deactivate the Resident Shield
- Before proceeding, deactivate the "Resident Shield" as this may prevent changes to the registry.
- To do this, click "Change State" to the right of the Resident Shield option in the main window.
- You will clearly see the status change to Inactive if you have done this correctly.

4) Disable SpySweeper
Courtesy of Askey127
If you have Spy Sweeper version 4:
Open it, Click Options over on the left, then Program options
Uncheck load at windows startup.
Over to the left, Click shields and Uncheck all there.
Uncheck home page shield.
Uncheck automatically restore default without notification.
Reboot your machine for the changes to take effect before running HJT.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

If you have SpySweeper version 5:
To disable SpySweeper Shields
Open SpySweeper.
Click Shield Settings on the right
(or Shields on the left, depending what screen you're on).
Click Internet Explorer and uncheck all items.
Click Windows System and uncheck all items.
Click Hosts File and uncheck all items.
Click Startup Programs and uncheck all items.
Close SpySweeper.
Reboot your computer, and ensure Spy Sweeper is disabled.

5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

(you may leave the first one if you set it that way on purpose)
R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = about:blank

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {7E853D72-626A-48EC-A868-BA8D5E23E045} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WhenUSearchWHSE] "C:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools SearchBar\whse.exe"
O20 - AppInit_DLLs: C:\WINDOWS\system32\__c00B4341.dat

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

6) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\__c00B4341.dat <<< delete that file

7) Follow the directions in this link to run AVG Anti-Spyware, make sure you delete or quarantine anything it finds and save the scan report to post.
http://forums.security-central.us/showthread.php?t=3165

8) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer and post the AVG Anti-Spyware scan report, a new HJT log and some feedback from you.

Thanks

Thanks, I see you did not remove this item:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [WhenUSearchWHSE] "C:\Program Files\DAEMON Tools SearchBar\whse.exe"
It's your computer but see this: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/startups/whse.exe-7754.html

Besides that item, the HJT log looks clean, do you own this program:
C:\Program Files\Webroot\Spy Sweeper\ ? If it is a trial, you get no benefits and it uses a lot of resources after the trial, same with AVG Anti-Spyware as I will cover. Let's do this now:

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/mcgill1.mspx

Remove from your computer all tools we downloaded for this cleanup, the exception is ATF-Cleaner and you may keep it if you wish.

AVG Anti-Spyware is a good program but it does use some resources. Once the trial is over you can update and use the scanner for as long as you wish, but unless you purchase it you should turn it off completely so it does not run unless you start it manually.

Some good information for you:
