View Full Version : Spybot won't open, spybot.exe missing, along with Norton and another problem.

I think I may have something but I'm not sure what it could be. I try to run either Spybot or Norton and they can't seem to be found, even though I know I had Spybot installed and still have Norton. I also try to boot up in safe mode and it just reboots. I am able to boot up normally after clicking on start with last known good configuration. Can someone help? Thank you.

Hi thisischris

* Download GMER from
here (http://www.gmer.net/gmer.zip):
Unzip it and start GMER.exe
Click the rootkit-tab and click scan.

Once done, click the Copy button.
This will copy the results to clipboard.
Paste the results in your next reply.

I wasn't able to download GMER from the link you provided but I did a search for the website and downloaded it from there. And While doing a scan, it freezes on me. But I copied what was scanned and tried pasting it into here, but it says it's too long. Is there another way to get it on here? Thanks.

Hi

You can upload it to rapidshare (http://www.rapidshare.com)
and post back link here :)

Thank you. Here is the link. Let me know if it doesn't work.

Hi

That log is incomplete.

Try to re-scan in safe mode.

I can't get into safe mode. That is one of my problems. If I try to boot up in safe or normal mode, it just reboots.

Hi

Let's try this then:

Download F-Secure Blacklight and save it to your desktop -> https://europe.f-secure.com/blacklight/try.shtml

Doubleclick fsbl.exe, accept the agreement, click Scan, then click Next

You'll see a list what have been found. A log will appear to your desktop, it is named fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (xxxxxxx will be random numbers).

DON'T choose Rename if something was found!

Post the contents of fsbl.xxxx.log to here (xxxx= random numbers, blacklight log from your desktop)

The log is too long to post here so here's the link.

Hi

Re-scan with blacklight

After scan, checkmark these one at a time (essential!) and click rename:

c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\srosa.sys
C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\hidr.exe

Reboot

Re-scan with blacklight

Post:

- a fresh HijackThis log
- blacklight report

Please forgive me, but do you want me to rename the two things in the log, or somewhere else? Thank you

Hi

Run a scan with blacklight

After scan, checkmark these one at a time (essential!) and click rename (you should see those in results):

c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\srosa.sys
C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\hidr.exe

Reboot

Re-scan with blacklight

Post:

- a fresh HijackThis log
- blacklight report
