When running Spybot lately it has taken a HUGE amount of time. I had posted the problem here:

http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=1430

Lonny Jones suggested on the 2 page I might have malware and said:

I see evidence of idmlog/wareout/unspypc infection
Service (registry key): ZPMODEMSYSNTDRVNT
Display name: ZPMODEMSYSNTDRVNT
Image path: \??\C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\zpmodemnt.sys

He also suggested I post a hijackthis log:

I also note this "mscoree.dll" file missing thing. ACT! (a sales contact program) run exceedingly slow also. I do not know if this is from the same problem but I just thought I'd throw it out there in case someone has seen this before.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Still with us gbtjom? :)

Why...yes I am!

Before Lonny even responded I found the BackLight program on some obscure website, downloaded it and used it. Not only did it take my Spybot problem (slowness) it fixed the ACT! software problem I had too. I NEVER would have found this thing with the BL software.

It found an ".exe" file in my system32 folder and something in the system32/wbem folder (another .exe if I recall). The .exe in my system32 folder kept changing names so the BL program renamed it and that was that. Spybot now runs in about 15min. Yay!

I hope this helps Spybot programmers somehow....I really know nothing about all these system problems but I can tell you it has been on my computer for at least a month....unknown most of the time. Weird.

Hi

That wbmtest.exe file was a lagitimat file by microsoft and not infected, If you havent deleted it yet put it back.

I think Yove suscefully killed the infection, But i would also run fixwareout and post its log
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=1640&highlight=fixwareout

For some reason it re-ran itself and deleted a bunch of stuff. I didn't get the change to save the first report. Grrr.... Anyway, it automatically ran HT and I got this:

Hi gbtjom

Yeah, I mentioned above that after the Backlight fix Spybot was back to normal! Yay! About 15 mins or so. :D

No...I haven't run any antivirus....not in a preventitive sense. I do have the MS firewall thing going however. Do you have any suggestions on an AV program?

thanks again!

Hi

I recommend turning off the ms firewall/replace it with a third party program.

free programs
Install atleast a free anti virus and firewall program
Dont make the common mistake of installing more than one anti virus or firewall

AVG Anti-Virus-Free: http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_dwnl_free.php
AntiVir Personal Edition: http://www.free-av.com/
avast! 4 Home - Free antivirus software :

Kerio Personal Firewall
For home users, Kerio Personal Firewall 4 is available in two flavors -
the full edition and the limited free edition.

Im Glad we could help
Since the problems are solved Im going to close the topic now, this keeps others with similar problems from posting there logs/question here, they should start a new topic.
If you should need to post another log for the same PC let Me or Tashi know.

Regards
Lonny
