Hi,

I noticed several postings here regarding issues similar to mine. Read your before post note and I am here hoping one you guys can help me fix my pc.

Issue: Clicking on search results either from Yahoo or Google send me to all kinds of different sites this happens so much that now I can not use the search links infact I type in the web address directly.

I have Mc Afee, Ad-ware and Spybot. Everytime I run SpyBot it cleans up something called the Zlog DNS Changer but then the next time the same entry is back again.

I have run adware, Virus scan and Spybot. Even ran Spybot and Adware in Safe mode.

Ran the f-secure online virus scanner and here is the output for that.

Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

Thanks to LonnyBJones and anyone else who helped with this fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your Desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads post the text that will open (report.txt) and a new Hijackthis log in the forum please.

1) Please download F-Secure BlackLight Beta:
https://europe.f-secure.com/exclude/blacklight/index.shtml

Save it to its own folder in the Desktop
Double-click blbeta.exe to run the program
Click : Scan
A list of all items found is created

The list is in the BlackLight folder on the Desktop, and named fsbl.xxxxxxx.log (xxxxxxx are numbers).

Please provide the log created by BlackLight in your next reply.

(do not delete anything, most if not all files will be valid)

2) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

3) Ad-Aware Ad-Watch may well block HJT, follow these instructions, remember to turn it back on when we are finished.
Right click on the Ad-Watch icon in the system tray.
At the bottom of the screen there will be two checkable items called "Active" and "Automatic".
Active: This will turn Ad-Watch On\Off without closing it
Automatic: Suspicious activity will be blocked automatically
Uncheck both of those boxes.

4) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

5) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Post the log from BlackLight, a new HJT log and tell me how the computer is running.

Hi,

I removed older java RE and isntalled the new one.For the blacklight step the only exe that downloaded from the link you gave is named fsbl.exe not the one you have in your instructions so should I proceed with running that?

Also I don't have the two options on right clickign on adwatch. my options are : Regshield, Processes,Track sweep Cookies and then at the bottom GoTo Settings and Close Ad-watch. Please advice if I should jsut close Ad-Watch before running HJT and then when do I turn ti back on..after gettign the HJT logs?

Thanks for returning your information, sorry about the Ad-aware Adwatch instructions, those are all I have.
BlackLight showed no Rootkit, so you know I ran it because of this item in the f-secure scan:
Stealth_file (hidden item) C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\KDDGH.EXE
You may delete F-Secure Black Light from your computer. If you have not done do, also remove Fixwareout from the computer.

I am not sure why we got this malware as I ahve been using McAfee Anti virus as well as frequently scanning with Adware. Please also advice how to protect my pc from this going forward.

System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
