View Full Version : 1.5 can't dl Immunization db 2007-07-25
Updated to 1.5. By uninstalling 1.4 1st. Didn't want the double entry in A/R. Running XP VLK SP2 32bit.
Downloaded like 10 updates. 2 remaining updates kept on failing. Dl'd the separate 2007-08-29 update package.
Checked within SSD for updates again. 1 update was left. And the Immunization datbase from 2007-07-25 returns !!! bad checksum ! error. Tried like 8 different dl locations. All fail.
Help please.

Hello,
Here are some manual download places that should work:
http://betanewsdl.iad.cachefly.net/spybot/updates/files/clsid.zip
http://ftp.rz.tu-bs.de/pub/mirror/spybot.info/sbsdupdates/clsid.zip
http://downloads.planetmirror.com/pub/spybot/clsid.zip
http://www.spybotupdates.com/updates/files/clsid.zip
Further you will find the servers, the files and the md5's here:
http://www.safer-networking.org/updates/spybotsd.ini .
Best regards

OK sandra thanks for the dl locations.
Downloaded the CLSIDs.sbs from 2007-07-25. Unzipped it & placed it in the correct folder. Rebooted & checked for updates.
Immunization database from 2007-07-25 still comes up.
I rt clicked & excluded it. So now SSD shows me up to date.
Will this cause my SSD not to see later CLSIDs.sbs immunization database updates?
And my current SSD is at 76,994 detections on XP pro SP2. Is this correct?
Thanks.

Yes, the "Immunization database" updates will no longer show.

zapjb:
Yes there is but it involves faking out the update facility to think that you received the file through the integrated update facility rather than manually. This can be done by editing the downloaded.ini file.
If you are willing:
Make a backup copy of the following file (just in case):
C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Updates\downloaded.ini
Open the following file with Notepad (do not use a word processing program):
C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Updates\downloaded.ini
Find the portion of the downloaded.ini that deals with the Immunization database. It starts with:
[clsid.zip]
...
...
Replace it with the following:
[clsid.zip]
InstallDate=2007-09-06
ReleaseDate=2007-07-25
URL=http://www.spybotupdates.biz/updates/files/clsid.zip
LocalFile=C:\Program Files\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Updates\clsid.zip
UpdateName=Immunization database
Description=!Updated Immunization database (546 KB)
OK I will do this.
Do I have to anything else to reverse my action of rt click & excluding?
OK. Done. Thanks.
Will I have to wait for the next SSD updates to see if it's really fixed?
And is there an official detections count by OS that I can refer to after an update?

There is no official count published that I am aware of. The scan count does not seem to match anything published in the Announcements (http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=2) forum:
Updates: 2007-09-05
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=17607
Total: 436138 fingerprints in 81110 rules for 3256 products.
Actually the "rules" count should be the correct one, e.g. 81110 from the last announcement. There's a difference of 958 rules though (Spybot shows 80152)... might be that it's counting internal QA checks or something like that as well, we need to check that :)

I actually get 80156 during a scan with "all available checks" (see the last exemplar - #3).
After the 2007-09-05, the counts from Spybot > Advanced mode > Settings > File sets are the same as the actual scan counts that I receive while scanning. Note: "■" represents the items checked during the scan and "□" represents the items un-checked during the scan .

Yes, you have to remove the exclusion.
How do I do this?
Thanks

zapjb:
The next time that you do a "Search for updates", select an "Update server", and actually receive a list of updates the available to be received:
Before downloading the updates, right click somewhere in the listing of updates, move your cursor over "Remove from Exclude List" and then click on the update that you excluded ("Immunization database").
Thanks.
I guess I'll have to wait to see if this works in my situation.

You could force something to be displayed by checking "Display beta updates" and then see if you can remove the exclusion.
OK I will. Thanks.
As soon as I reboot into XP.
I feel so much better in Linux (PCLinuxOS). :heart:
It's tough to reboot. But I will. ;)
Done & done.
Undid the exclude.
Thanks. :bigthumb:
