Hello ..

I was hoping someone could assist me to identify the problem.

In my Event Viewer, I notice constant information from SDWinSec which I believe is related to Spybot.

EventID: 100
Source: SDWinSec
The description for Event ID 100 from source SDWinSec cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

timerCheckTimer

What is the problem and how should I fix it please?

Hi dreamworks,
I have read a similar post to yours on another forum and it seems that SDWinSec is required to integrate Spybot-S&D into the Windows Security Centre.

Have you tried removing Spybot and doing a re install whilst in safe mode?

This may well resolve the issue if you have a corrupted component. regards.

Hi people,

I have the same constant info in my Event Viewer.
(Vista Ultimate)
Do you think this is another undocumented feature
of SBSD ?

Or does the reinstall in safemode really work ?

I have tried to do the installation via safe mode.

Unfortunately the error message in the Event Log still shows same problem.

There is no performance effect or whatsoever. But I was hoping someone could assist if he knows the problem and how to fix it. Thanks.

It's not a problem :)

I just checked, it's an old "I'm still alive ping" by the WSC integration that we forgot to remove ;)

Well, whether it's a bug or not, the message won't appear any more in the next SDWinSec.exe (which I'll release as pre-beta-something or so in the beta forum to allow people testing of the floppy seek tweak).

I have noticed that it's not a problem ... but my event viewer is "polluted" by this event (1 each 60s, you can imagine).

Sorry :fear:

Hi all :)

Something new in the development of the new SdWinsec.exe ?

Any resolution re: SDWinSec? I am getting these eventID 100 notices in my Event Viewer, every 60 secs. Quite an annoyance, thinking of removing Spybot.

[Vista only] Event log flooded with live pings (http://forums.spybot.info/project.php?issueid=83)
Should be fixed in both Helloween Edition betas :)

This is still ocurring even in the .15 version on vista x64 absolutely polluting the log every 60 sec...is there anyway to stop this from happening other than removing S&D?

Does anyone know if there has (or has not) been a resolution to this yet?

The last report in this thread was .15, after that came the 1.5.2 release I think, and now 1.6. The linked bug entry says it was fixed in .16, where both 1.5.2 and 1.6 are newer than that :)

I'm actually having the problem in 1.5.1.15. I think what you're saying is that it was fixed in 1.5.16? If that's the case I guess that should fix it for me.

Do I need to uninstall/reinstall or is it ok to install over the top when using vista? Just wondering if the setup options can be preserved?

Just install 1.6 over the top and you should be alright.

I personally disagree.

I believe that you should first uninstall previous versions as briefly outline by
honda12 (http://forums.spybot.info/member.php?u=31742) in this post (http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=210316&postcount=2) in the following thread:
for 1.6: clean install or overwrite 1.5.2 ?
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=30606
There have been problems encountered in the past upgrading from one version to another (depending on the versions) without uninstalling (such as orphaned immunization entries, multiple add/remove entries, etc.). So in order to avoid any problems, I suggest taking a few minutes and uninstall old versions before installing the new version.
