View Full Version : Adware Hell! Tried Everything you can imagine

Now I am out of ideas. Can anyone help me analyze and root out this persistant Adware? The bad thing about it is the adware directs you to a website (on my hard drive) that tries to sell me Adware removal! NICE!

First of all, you are using an older version of HijackThis. Please do the following to download and install the latest version of HijackThis v2.0.2:

CLICK HERE (http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/threat_analytics/HJTInstall.exe) to download the HijackThis Installer:

Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Double-click on HJTInstall.exe to run the program.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
Accept the license agreement by clicking the "I Accept" button.
Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
Click "Save log" to save the log file and then the log will open in Notepad.
Click on "Edit -> Select All" then click on "Edit -> Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and paste the log in your next reply.
Do NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet! Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.


You may delete the older version once you have successfully downloaded and installed the latest version of HijackThis v2.0.2.

Then close all windows except HijackThis and click Fix Checked

Click Start
When asked, allow the activex control to install
Click Start
Make sure that the option Remove found threats is unticked, and the option Scan unwanted applications is checked
Click Scan
Wait for the scan to finish
Use notepad to open the logfile located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt
Copy and paste that log as a reply to this topic, along with a new HijackThis log
