Hi, I understand that a few people have posted similar issues, but I know next to nothing about computers and I'm not sure if I have the same problem, or if I can use their solutions.
Whenever I do a search, or click a link, etc sometimes (it varies) I get redirected to sites like:

.searchnut.com
.aicse.com/search
.velvetic.com
eroson.com

...and so on
I ONLY use google for search engines, so i have no idea what this is.

I have used SpyBot SD, I have Symantic AntiVirus, I've used Ad-Aware, a-squared Free, CCleaner, and they all say I'm fine and clean. SpyBot picked up a few things, but nothing's changed.

Any help would be grand!

Hello Catsi

Welcome to Safer Networking.

Please read Before You Post (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288)

We need it to have HJT in its own folder for backup purposes. Go to your C: drive and create a new folder and name it Hijackthis, go to your desktop where you have it now and right click on it and select CUT, then open the new folder you just created and right click in that folder and select PASTE.

This is where your at....
Your computer has been hijacked by the lovely people in the Ukraine, you are infected with Wareout.

85.255.112.200 - 85.255.127.255
Inhoster hosting company
OOO Inhoster, Poltavskij Shliax 24, Kharkiv, 61000, Ukraine

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
FixWareout Subratam (http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe)
FixWareout Lonny (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe)

Save it to your desktop and run it.
Click Next, then Install,
Then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
At the end of the fix, you may need to restart your computer again.

Save the contents of the logfile C:\fixwareout\report.txt and post it into your next reply.

Now lets check some settings on your system. For (2000/XP) Only)

Go to Start > control panel.
If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections.
Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl.
Left click on properties.
Click the Networking tab.
Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.
That option might not be available on some systems

Next Go start> Run type cmd and hit OK
Type in ipconfig /flushdns then hit enter
(that space between g and / is needed)
Type exit hit enter

Please download ATF Cleaner (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1) by Atribune to your desktop.

This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.

Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up

I need to see the Wareout Log and a New HJT log please

Um...I'm not sure if anything was supposed to change yet or anything, but the problem hasn't gone away. I'm still getting diverted to these sites.

Sorry if I'm jumping the gun a little, just wanted to give an update.

Good Morning,

You have done well, it looks like Wareout is gone:bigthumb: Just a few things to do to make sure your 100% clean.

This is what got you into trouble by downloading this System Doctor
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic58656.html <-- Read about it here

We need to remove it with HJT but you have to disable the TeaTimer in Spybot Search and Destroy or it may prevent the deletion.
Open Spybot and go to Mode> Advanced Mode> Tools> Resident and take the checkmark out of Tea Timer

Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.

O16 - DPF: {09F1ADAC-76D8-4D0F-99A5-5C907DADB988} - [url]http://www.systemdoctor.com/download...reeInstall.cab[url]

This may have brought other things with it so run this program that takes about 10 min, post the report and a new HJT log.

Download ComboFix from Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the Combofix log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Where almost home:bigthumb: There are a couple of suspicious files on your Combofix log, we need to check them out.

We need to make sure all hidden files are showing :

Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.

Once your system is clean, we suggest that you reverse this to keep critical windows files from accidently being deleted.

Go to this site Jotti Upload (http://virusscan.jotti.org/) and under the browse feature, browse to both these files

C:\Documents and Settings\Simon\Application Data\inst.exe
C:\WINDOWS\iun6002ev.exe

Then click on upload and it will give you a report, post the report in your next reply.

Yep, lets not flirt with success. How is your system running now??

hi, been doing some internet surfing and haven't been diverted yet, so maybe things have been fixed. Hope so!
:D:

Thanks for all your help, it's been simply excellent. I'll comment if anything does happen (fingers crossed)
Thanks again, you're the best!

(BTW, any advice for how to make sure that this or something else like this doesnt happen again?)

Glad things are well, they should stay that way, I know after all you have been through you may be a little gun shy :)

Just keep in mind that all the legit anti spyware and virus programs do advertise, but they will never pop up in your browser with a warning offering you a free scan. :lip:

Malware Complaints (http://malwarecomplaints.info/index.php)
Are you mad ? I mean really mad, seething mad, so mad your ready to spit, mad that you have taken your hard earned dollars to buy a computer only to have some Miscredents, Dirt Bags and Cyber Criminals install a malicious program on your computer without your knowledge or consent. You can post your complaint at the above site. If you live in the U.S.A. you can also report your grievance to your State Attorney Generals Office and the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection.

How did I get infected in the first place ? Read these links and find out how to prevent getting infected again.

Here are some free programs to install, don't leave home without them

Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4 (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/)
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis.

Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed.

Spyware Guard (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html) It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.

IE-Spyad (http://forums.windowsforum.org/index.php?showtopic=6640)
IE-Spyad places over 4000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads
(cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.

Firefox 2.0 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and
painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.

Zone Alarm (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,7228,00.asp) Here is a free Firewall from Zone Labs, I
wouldn't access the internet without it.
