Hello, I am having trouble with this Spyware called Pipas.A Spybot keeps telling me it finds it and cleans it, but it keeps coming back. Spybot is obviously not fixing the problem and I don't know how to fix it. Will someone please tell me how to remove this Pipas.A from my computer completely?

Hi

You may want to print out these instructions for reference, since you will have to restart your computer during the fix.

Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/Fixwareout.exe

Save it to your desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, then make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish. The fix will begin; follow the prompts. You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so. Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.

When your system reboots, follow the prompts. Afterwards, HijackThis will launch. Please click Scan, and check the following items(if there):

R3 - URLSearchHook: (no name) - {4F5075FE-5A84-8E82-FF40-70D84DC1F793} - abrek.dll (file missing)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dmceu.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dmceu.exe
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{5E4B31DD-AC10-4EA8-A1DF-E2727EE0525A}: NameServer = 85.255.115.54,85.255.112.69
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{ACFEA194-41A4-438C-990A-783AEAADD4A3}: NameServer = 85.255.115.54,85.255.112.69
O17 - HKLM\System\CCS\Services\Tcpip\..\{B7C9D5ED-BE42-4A3C-84FC-A1F6EFEB24E3}: NameServer = 85.255.115.54,85.255.112.69

If you see a new item that wasnt in your last log in your O4 lines in hijackthis, starting with dm... for example:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [dm***.exe] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dm***.exe (the *** stand for random letters)
or starting with hg***.exe for example:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [hg***.exe] C:\Windows\System32\hg***.exe
or starting with cs***.exe for example:
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [cscyd.exe] cscyd.exe
Check it as well. If your not sure, leave it and only check the ones I asked you to check
===========================================================
Click Fix Checked. Close HijackThis, and click OK to proceed.

Finally, please post the contents of report.txt (it should open), along with a new HijackThis log.

Note:
If You have connection problems or those 017's ~ 85.255.115.54,85.255.112.69, return >
Before doing this write down all the settings, Note that not all system/setups even have these settings, While some connection service's will require them.
In the windows control panel. If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and left click on properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically
Press OK twice to get out of the properties screen and reboot if it asks.
That option might not be avaiable one some systems

Thank you for your assistance. I did as requested, but I think the HJT ran twice, becauseit gave one report, did some more stuff, then gave me another report. I checked something before the first time but not before the second.

Anyhow here are both reports in the order which I got them:

Hi

Delete these files manualy (dont mess with IPSEC6.EXE)
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CSCTO.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\DMOUD.EXE
C:\WINDOWS\System32\TLTWA.DLL

Search your pc for pppcgm.exe and let me know if it exists ? If so i want a copy.

Run Hijackthis, scan, save a new log and post it.

Hello, and thank you.

I deleted those three files and removed them from the recycyling bin.

I could not find the file pppcgm.exe.

You log Looks fine Waseem

Are there any current problems ?

In the furture You should get an online scan in addition to regular scans with CA's antivirus program, once or twice a month.

Thank you for your assistance. I am no longer having problems, and SpyBot is finding nothing on m system. Thank you.

I do have a question, though. How does an online scan differ from my CA AntiVirus Scan, which I run everyday?

Is CA EZ AntiVirus a good program?

Hi

Getting an online is a way to get more opinions, No single antivirus see's all the virus's and trojans out there.

Yes CA's virus and firewall are fine programs

Prevention:
Put in place a good hosts file

How To Download and Extract the HOSTS file:
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts2.htm
Replace it about once monthly
How did that go ?
To help avoid reinfection see "So how did I get infected in the first place?"
