What aspect of Spybot 1.5 like sdhelper or tea timer or something else needs to be turned on so that Vista Security Center will show Spybot as an active anti-malware component. This feature was displayed on one of the what's new web pages for v 1.5.

Also, would having Spybot listed under Security Center as an active anti-malware component have any adverse effect on Windows Defender or any other native component of Vista.

TeaTimer needs to be running. Also, there's a system service (that should run automatically) that is checking whether TeaTimer is running and detection updates are up-to-date.

Since Windows Security Center can handle more than one component per category easily, it shouldn't have any side-effects.
