My computer is running very slow. I use Avast anti-virus and adaware 2007 to keep things clean, but something is definitely wrong. Plus, I have ended up on blacklists because my computer is spamming! Anyways here is my hijackthis report, any help would be great:

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

You have issues, this may be a Smitfraud infection. You also have not followed the instructions posted at the top of the forum which I included in this post, so we have an out of date version of HJT.
You also have a lot of junk I can see that needs to go. If you wish to proceed with this cleanup, this is what I will need you to do.

1) G:\IT Share\HijackThis.exe <<< delete that version of HJT completely.

2) Download the newest version which will self install, just follow the prompts. Allow it to install in the default location, do not change it.
http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en-US/_download/HJTInstall.exe

3) http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< download Smitfraudfix from here and follow ONLY these directions.

Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt

Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/processutil/processutil.htm

Post the C:\rapport.txt from Smitfraudfix and a new HJT log.

Thanks

Here are the reports as you asked. Before i read your post, I tried some things on my own. No real success. Just wanted to let you know in case you saw something changed and were wondering why.

My biggest concern is the spamming thing. I can see from a firewall report that it is sending out several per second. Do you see whats causing this?

Thanks again for your help.

Thanks for returning that information and the feedback, please follow these instructions.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

Start > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs and uninstall SmartShopper and Starware322 if they are there.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page = about:blank
O2 - BHO: SmartShopper - {2BA1C226-EC1B-4471-A65F-D0688AC6EE3A} - C:\Program Files\SmartShopper\Bin\2.0.25\SmrtShpr.dll (file missing)
O3 - Toolbar: Starware Reference Toolbar - {1962c5bc-e475-465b-823b-133e711bceb9} - C:\Program Files\Starware322\bin\Starware322.dll (file missing)
O8 - Extra context menu item: &Search - http://edits.mywebsearch.com/toolbar...p=ZNxpt024MLUS
O16 - DPF: {1D4DB7D2-6EC9-47A3-BD87-1E41684E07BB} - http://ak.exe.imgfarm.com/images/noc...1.0.0.15-3.cab

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Post a new HJT log, let me know how the computer is running now.

I believe your Java program needs and update, look here:
Start > Control Panel > Java (little coffee cup). Once the console opens, click the update tab and then check for updates.

Thanks

Here is information to help with computer performance:
http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/slowcomputer.html

You HJT log looks clean, let's run a good scan to look for anything hidden from HJT.

Run this online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Scanner from http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
* Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
* Standard
* Scan Options:
* Scan Archives
* Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.

Then post it here, also tell me how the computer is running now.

Thanks

The scanner has been scanning for 2.5 hours and is at 21% comlete. I guess it will take a LONG while. Thats okay though. I'll post the results when they come. Also, the computer is running more responsive and faster with each thing we do. It really almost seems back to speed (just a little slow). I'll let you know...

Is this dialup? It should not take that long on DSL or cable. If all is running ok, then stop the scan and use the information I provided to see if it helps enhance performance.

I have valuable closing information to post so let me know.

Thanks...Phil

Thanks for the scan results, here is what it shows:

KASPERSKY ONLINE SCANNER REPORT Monday, October 15, 2007 10:05:10 PM
Number of infected objects: 9

Appears you ran combofix, please delete this folder:
C:\qoobox\Quarantine\ <<< 5 items are in that folder

C:\System Volume Information\_restore <<< 4 are in System Restore, you can clean those files with this information:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:

The computer is back to running as fast as it ever has. Thanks a lot for that! You have been very helpful.

Can I share a little background. I work at Hope Childrens Home (a non-profit that cares for abused and abandoned children, www.hopechildrenshome.org). The guy who helps with our computers and network no longer is able to help. He has set up all this great stuff for us, but now I am suppose to maintain it--I am out of my league. I say that to say, I am trying to figure out some things, but not sure. I think this computer is still sending out spam mail. The firewall (a checkpoint VPN-edge 1 X) is reporting this:

IP 192.168.2.57 is this computer. I just pasted a little portion, but this is the same for pages every day. Do you know what this means? Do you know if it is spam? The reason why I say it is, is because our mail is being refused from hotmail, yahoo, msn, and others because we are on their blacklist. I just don't know what to do because we, of course, need to send out e-mails, but cannot to may people. Do you have any advise or help to offer, or is this just not something you can do without being here? ANy help is appreciated. If not, thanks for all your time already, you've been so awesome!

Thanks for the feedback on your computer:)

Here is a good link to help checking these: http://www.whois.sc/

This number: http://whois.domaintools.com/209.84.253.244
http://whois.domaintools.com/209.84.253.245

both show this: United States Sarasota Rapid Systems it appears valid as the Blacklist is Clear
You can check with your ISP if you are unsure.

This should be your private IP: http://whois.domaintools.com/192.168.2.57, your ISP should advise you there also.

I would contact your ISP and give them this information, they will be able to tell you if it is valid or not.

Beyond that, I would advise you to read the "Before you Post" instructions, especially post #5 so you understand your responsibily and ours towards your "emplorer", and then start a new topic by posting information about the issues, a HJT log and the results of a Kaspersky scan. One of our helpers will assist you as soon as possible at that point.

Thanks...Phil

Okay, I'll do that.

I read #5, most of it deals with a companie's IT dept--wish we had one!!! I'm a Bible teacher and certified counselor, not an IT guy. haha

Thanks again.
