I'm infected and looking for some help, please. I tried to follow your instructions to the letter, but cannot get Spybot to open at all. I had 1.4 but my XP machine will not let me remove it via Add/Remove Programs. I downloaded 1.5 but it will not open, even after rebooting. Rebooting in safe mode is not working at all.

Here is my HJT log:

The Kaspersky Report is way too long to fit on two posts. Any suggestions are most welcome.

I first found Virtumonde a few days ago, and Spybot and Ad-Aware took care of it temporarily. Now I can't get either of these apps to load or work at all. Plus, I get frequent IE pop-ups, even when IE is not running (I use Firefox.)

Thanks!

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

Hold that Kaspersky report until I ask for it.

You are infected and you also have posted a HJT log with an old version. Use the link in the instructions to get the newest version. If you still need help, proceed like this:

add/remove in the control panel.
Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.
(You may edit out Microsoft, Hotfixes, Security Update for Windows XP, Update for Windows XP and Windows XP Hotfix to shorten the list)

Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix.

Please understand these hackers can call there junk anything they wish. Vundofix may not know the files at first, but it will learn. You want to run the fix until you see all Vundo files say: "Has been deleted"

Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThislogin a reply to this thread.Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

If there is a file VundoFix doesn't find we need it submitted. Please submit
the files to upload malware http://www.uploadmalware.com

Post the uninstall list, Vundofix report and a new HJT log using version 2.0.2.

Thanks

tashi
