I got this malware about 2 days ago and spybot S&D hasnt been able to remove it. It has downloaded other forms of malware and spybot was able to delete them, but again, this one cant be removed.

C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_11\ <<< out of date and likely why you are infected. Update to the newest version and then uninstall all old versions in Add Remove programs.
2) O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSConfig] C:\WINDOWS\PCHealth\HelpCtr\Binaries\MSConfig.exe /auto
MSConfig is running in Selective Startup mode, return it to Normal mode until we finish with this cleanup. I must see everything running.
3) While you have multiple infections and we may need multiple tools, I believe I should point out that Win32.Murlo.ff was added to the Spybot data base on 26. September 2007

5) TeaTimer will block changes we must make, use these instructions to turn it off until we finish. I also suggest you keep this computer offline except when troubleshooting, as you are aware, the junk will download more and you have your share now.

Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt
Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.

1) Clean:
Reboot your computer in Safe Mode (before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually)
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 2 and hit Enter to delete infect files.
You will be prompted: Do you want to clean the registry ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found): Replace infected file ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to restore a clean file.
A reboot may be needed to finish the cleaning process. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt
Optional:
To restore Trusted and Restricted site zone, select 3 and hit Enter.
You will be prompted: Restore Trusted Zone ? answer Y (yes) and hit Enter to delete trusted zone.
Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.
2) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.
3) AVG Anti-Spyware: Deactivate the Resident Shield
- Before proceeding, deactivate the "Resident Shield" as this may prevent changes to the registry.
- To do this, click "Change State" to the right of the Resident Shield option in the main window.
- You will clearly see the status change to Inactive if you have done this correctly.
4) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune

Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.
5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
6) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:
C:\WINDOWS\Temp\ <<< delete the contents of that folder (NOT the folder)
7) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Post the C:\rapport.txt from Smitfraudfix, a new HJT log and any comments you think will help. Please let me know how the computer is running now.

Well i have done everything you've instructed me to do. The only problem now is that i cant delete the startdrv.exe file from the temp folder, most likely b/c its tied to a process. All but one startdrv.exe reg keys was left after the deletion using hijack this. It reappeared after a second scan i did. Logs:(This one is too big for one post)

Once it is removed use HJT to make sure it is gone! It is possible SpywareDoctor may block the removal, turn that program off until it is removed.

The hosts files was corrupted, please follow these instruction so I can look at the hosts file now:
To view the Hosts file:
Start -> Run -> Copy the following to the box and hit enter:
C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\etc\HOSTS
A window opens, choose Notepad from the list and hit OK.
A notepad document opens, copy the contents to here
3) That is the only issue I see in the HJT log now, how is the computer running?
4) After success, please update AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5 and run a complete system scan, save the scan results and post them for me to view.
5) Once you are clean, you need to put a Hosts file in place to protect yourself, here is information to view for your consideration:

Ok that guide really helped, i was able to remove the virus from the temp folder. Afterwards, The avg anti spyware picked up 2 minor problems and fixed both of them (they were removed). Regarding the hosts from the other report; i just deleted them from the post in order to make room b/c it exceeded the character limitation for making posts. I cant post the host log here because again, it is too big, so here is the result of hijack this after removing the virus and all its reg keys:

Fraud scanner this is just the log of the initial scan, not the one after the clean up. The second is after the AVG spyware scanner.Also, is there a way that i could email you the other logs of the HOSTS and the "after clean-up" smitfrauder.exe ones? im having a hard time putting them up, thats why i ask. Remove Smitfraudfix from your computer, you are finished with it. It does not update itself so do not keep it.
I do not need to see the Hosts files, but if you wish I can provide a program to return it to the original Microsoft Hosts file. I personally use IE-Spyad but many folks prefer the other one I posted.

Everything seems to be running fine, everything is up-to-date and i installed norton 2008. I have also scanned my computer with all the spyware detectors and it is completely clean. Thanks again for your help, i appreciate it very much!
