Spybot detected virtumonde on my computer and I had it fix it, but after looking deeper into what the virus actually was, I realized not all of it may be gone. Here are my Hijackthis and kaspersky reports. Thanks for the help.

Vundo is still present and needs to be removed, follow these instructions in order please.


Download ComboFix from Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the Combofix log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall



Download VundoFix (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4 ) to your desktop

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.

Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.




Download CCleaner from here (http://www.ccleaner.com/) to clean temp files from your computer.

Double click on the file to start the installation of the program.
Select your language and click OK, then next.
Read the license agreement and click I Agree.
Click next to use the default install location. Click Install then finish to complete installation.
Double click the CCleaner shortcut on the desktop to start the program.
On the "Windows" tab, under "Internet Explorer," uncheck "Cookies" if you do not want them deleted. (If deleted, you will likely need to reenter your passwords at all sites where a cookie is used to recognize you when you visit).
If you use either the Firefox or Mozilla browsers, the box to uncheck for "Cookies" is on the Applications tab, under Firefox/Mozilla.
Click on the "Options" icon at the left side of the window, then click on "Advanced."
deselect "Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 48 hours."
Click on the "Cleaner" icon on the left side of the window, then click Run Cleaner to run the program.
Caution: It is not recommended that you use the "Issues" feature unless you are very familiar with the registry as it has been known to find legitimate items.
After CCleaner has completed its process, click Exit.

*NOTE* CCleaner deletes EVERYTHING out of temp/temporary folders. If you have anything in a temp folder, back it up or move it to a permanent folder prior to running CCleaner!


This is important, do this before you post a HJT log

Thanks for the reports, they didn't find much , it looks like there are just some leftovers to take care of.

First disable the TeaTimer in Spybot or it may stop the fix. You can re enable it if you wish when we are done.

Open Spybot and go to Mode> Advanced Mode> Tools> Resident and take the checkmark out of Tea Timer



Open up Vundofix

Right click inside the white box and click on Add More Files
Paste these all in one at a time

C:\WINDOWS\system32\ihhkj.bak1
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ihhkj.bak2
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ihhkj.ini2
C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkhhi.dll


Close Window
Click on Remove Vundo.
Close out the tool when done.
Paste the report into this thread.

Copy the entire contents inside the Quote box and Paste it into Notepad ( this will only work with Notepad )

click on Merge,
when it asks you to merge with the Registry, say yes.


Post the Vundo log and a new HJT log please

I'm not sure why I didnt get a log report from vundofix, but I didnt, and I didnt see anything within the little box that said otherwise. I copy and pasted all the things you asked and Im assuming it removed them because it went through the whole desktop going blank and then my computer re-booted, so if you need that and can tell me how to get it, I'd be more than happy to get that for you. Your log looks fine , but those files are part of Vundo, lets make sure there gone.

Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt <-- Have you looked here??

The best way to see if there gone is to run Combofix again and post the log.

Haha, ok, thanks fore being patient and putting up with me. Here is the vundo log. I noticed that only 3 of the 4 things you had me copy and paste showed up. Should I c&p the last one into vundofix again? The Combofix log is also posted. A quick question about that. Each time Ive ran Combofix teatimer pops up with 3 or 4 registry entry changes about search toolbars and the values changing on them or something along those lines. I always deny the changes, because I dont know what they are for. Show I allow these? Any suggestions?

Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis.

you the option to deny the change.

IE-Spyad places over 4000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads
(cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.

Firefox 2.0 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and
painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.

Zone Alarm (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,7228,00.asp) Here is a free Firewall from Zone Labs, I
wouldn't access the internet without it.
