sp2pac

I ran spybot but it was unable to fix 3 cmdservice files. I read some threads here and decided to run ComboFix. That seemed like it worked. I ran spybot again and there was no more cmdservice. Then everything seemed normal but it is still a little slower than normal. I ran hijackthis. here is my log.

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

Start with ONLY the Two Logs We Ask For in Our Sticky Topic, NOT CF etc
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=16806

Thanks for posting, let me provide you with some information.

1) Please read the information posted above which is also pinned to the top of this forum. There is more information pinned there I suggest you read also, it is there for your benefit.

2) I am not seeing a lot in the HJT log, I will show you how to remove what I do so. This is the reason for the scan, HJT can not show everything.

3) combofix is a good tool, the creator thought about hiding it from all but experts because of how complex it is and problems that can occur if not used correctly. He decided not to do this since we need to post a link to the download site in open forums. I may or may not have used that tool depending on what the two logs we require had to show. Since you ran it, I would like to see the report it generated. You should find that .txt in the C:\combofix folder

4) I suggest you remove this item like this:
See this: http://www.castlecops.com/atxlist-1613.html

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O16 - DPF: {DECEAAA2-370A-49BB-9362-68C3A58DDC62} (SAIX) - http://static.zangocash.com/cab/Zang...d084361d36488e

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

run Clean Manager
http://spyware-free.us/tutorials/cleanmgr/

Should I run the HJT and kaspersky and post the logs up for you to see? I

I would like to see what combofix removed. Post the Kaspersky scan only if you have questions about the results.

Thanks

I deleted that file using HJT. But I still get pop ups. So i ran HJT again to see if there was anything else that was new. Also I dont have the combofix log anymore. I think I deleted it by accident. Can you take a look at this HJT log and see if there is anything new that is wrong. Thanks.

Thanks for the feedback, you still have issues and I don't know from looking at HJT how bad they are. Tell me about these popups, do they occur when you are not online? Where do they direct you and what rouge product are the hackers trying to get you to purchase.

We may have to run some tools, but let's have HJT have a go at it first to see what happens.

1) Tell me if you know what this is:
O16 - DPF: {A78856A6-334B-43AF-96F5-58574005910D} (CEinstaller Object) - https://secure200.ipixmedia.com/code/Einstaller.cab

2) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

3) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

4) Start > Control Panel > Add Remove Programs and uninstall Security Toolbar if there. Uninstall any other program you know does not belong on your computer.

5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)
O3 - Toolbar: Security Toolbar - {11A69AE4-FBED-4832-A2BF-45AF82825583} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\epragcpt.dll
VirtuMonde/Vundo adware component
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [2800f943] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\yewpusff.dll",b
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - SolidConverterPDF - (no file) (HKCU)

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

6) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\epragcpt.dll <<< delete that file

C:\WINDOWS\system32\yewpusff.dll <<< delete that file

Both files are Vundo related, make sure you do not miss them. If they give you issues with removal, use this tool and instructions:
How to use the Delete on Reboot tool
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial42.html#delreb

7) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Post a new HJT log and some feedback.

Thanks

Thanks for the advice. I will do the things you suggested when I get home. I am at work right now. Before I went to sleep last nite, I an spybot just to see if there was any more problems. I came up with these 3:

virtumonde.generic
virtumonde.rtk
virtumonde

I clicked on fix and it looked like it deleted them. Then I rebooted and left spybot running while I went to bed. When I woke up I saw that it detected the same 3 problems and I had about 50 pop ups. I forgot what software it was telling me to buy but I will check that when I get home. Your feedback is appreciated.

So the popups I get are from this http://www.savetheinformation.com/v6/?gai=hamm_h4_pop&gli=pop_1&gff=hamm_68089_2800f9ec%204FF798227F7042C88751F9D513F1AFBC&eai=hamm_h4_pop&eli=pop_1&eaf=hamm_68089_2800f9ec%204FF798227F7042C88751F9D513F1AFBC&air=hamm_h4_pop&lir=pop_1&afr=hamm_68089_2800f9ec%204FF798227F7042C88751F9D513F1AFBC
I also have a "Security Toolbar 7.1" that is on my IE. I looked for it in add/remove programs but it wasnt there. not sure how to get rid of it.

The popups occur all the time. I can just bootup and not go on IE and I'll get it. The software it wants me to purchase is "System Defender"

I dont know what this is: O16 - DPF: {A78856A6-334B-43AF-96F5-58574005910D} (CEinstaller Object) - https://secure200.ipixmedia.com/code/Einstaller.cab So I didnt delete it.

I ran HJT and fixed the files your mentioned.

I went into the system32 folder and was able to get rid of C:\WINDOWS\system32\yewpusff.dll

but not C:\WINDOWS\system32\epragcpt.dll

I tried to use HJT - Delete on Reboot tool but that didnt work. When I clicked on it, HJT just closed.

I was able to run ATF cleaner and it cleared out about 25mb.

As I am typing this, I got about 20 popups.

here is my log for HJT:

You are getting reinfected as you go:sad: You must keep this computer offline except when you are troubleshooting the problem.

Start by removing combofix completely from your computer if you have not done so. Make sure to delete the C:\qoobox\quarantine folder. Once it is gone, then do this:

Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.

Download ComboFix from Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Post that combofix log

Thanks

Thanks, combofix picked up a bunch of hidden junk, let's do this.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O3 - Toolbar: Security Toolbar - {11A69AE4-FBED-4832-A2BF-45AF82825583} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\epragcpt.dll
O16 - DPF: {A78856A6-334B-43AF-96F5-58574005910D} (CEinstaller Object) - https://secure200.ipixmedia.com/code/Einstaller.cab

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

(delete all files highlited in red)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\kwclsfjs.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nevqnemi.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\epragcpt.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ifeogxdf.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnkhgg.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\fccdbca.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\byxvwxw.dll

If any of those files gives you trouble, use this tool and instructions: How to use the Delete on Reboot tool
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial42.html#delreb

Empty you Recycle Bin

Remove combofixix from your computer, be sure to delete the C:\qoobox\quarantine folder

Restart the computer

Run this online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Scanner from http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner

You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.

* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
* Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
* Standard
* Scan Options:
* Scan Archives
* Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.

Then post it here.

Thanks

Hi thanks for the quick reply.

I ran HJT and deleted the 2 files you mentioned.

Then in the system32 folder, I wasnt able to delete 2 of the 7 files. The 2 are:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\epragcpt.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnkhgg.dll

When I clicked on the "Delete on Reboot Tool" button, HJT closes. It doesnt let me select what files to delete on reboot. So these 2 files are still here.

After this I decided to scan with HJT again because i found that the popups were all labeled "Security Center". I guess the first time I deleted it, it didnt work. So I tried to delete it again, but i dont think it worked. I think this is associated with this file "C:\WINDOWS\system32\epragcpt.dll" and is still running in the memory so it cant be deleted?

I deleted Combofix and the quarantine folder. Then I restarted and ran Kaspersky. Here is the log.

Those two files have to be deleted, but we have our work cut out with this scan.

How to use the Delete on Reboot tool http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial42.html#delreb
Start Hijackthis
Click on the Config button
Click on the Misc Tools button
Click on the button labeled Delete a file on reboot...
A new window will open asking you to select the file that you would like to delete on reboot. Copy and paste those files in one at a time and then click on the Open button.
You will now be asked if you would like to reboot your computer to delete the file. Click on the Yes button if you would like to reboot now.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\epragcpt.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnkhgg.dll

Let me know if that works.

Kaspersky scan:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Spybot - Search & Destroy\Recovery\ <<< delete the contents of the Recovery folder

I am not sure what this is, but it must be deleted!!
C:\Documents and Settings\Lawrence\cdegfr Infected: Email-Worm.Win32.Locksky.l skipped

C:\Documents and Settings\Lawrence\Local Settings\Temp\ <<< delete the contents of that Temp folder (NOT the folder)

C:\Documents and Settings\Lawrence\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\ <<< delete the contents of that TIF folder (NOT the folder)

C:\WINDOWS\system32\1024\ <<< delete that folder

(delete all of the files in red)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp4CAF.tmp Infected: Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Zlob.lh skipped
C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp5078.tmp Infected: Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Zlob.lh skipped
C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp53F7.tmp Infected: Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Zlob.lh skipped
C:\WINDOWS\system32\hp6C42.tmp Infected: Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Zlob.lh skipped
C:\WINDOWS\system32\hpA9CF.tmp Infected: Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Zlob.lh skipped
C:\WINDOWS\system32\hpAC44.tmp Infected: Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Zlob.lh skipped
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ldCB7A.tmp Infected: Trojan-Downloader.Win32.Zlob.kz skipped

After all of that is done, then restart the computer and clean the System Restore files like this:
System Restore does not know the good files from the bad. In case bad stuff has gotten into your System Restore files, follow the instructions in this link to get clean System Restore files. Turn it off, reboot then turn it back on:
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/tips/mcgill1.mspx

Run another Kaspersky scan and post it if it is NOT clean.

Thanks

I followed the instructions exactly to get rid of those 2 files. When I clicked the button "delete a file on reboot" HJT just closes. No new window opens to select the file. I tried this numerous times. I even started in safe mode and tried this. Also in my taskbar there is a blinking explaination mark with a yellow triangle around it. That wont go away.

I was able to delete everything you suggested from the Kaspersky scan. NO problems there.

I also did what you mentioned for the restore point.

Should I do another Kaspersky scan? I didnt do it right now because it takes over an hour, and obviously those 2 files are still there. I will scan it again if you would like. Thanks. please advise.

If you followed the directions, the next Kaspersky scan should be clean, I do not need to see it if that is the case. You will continue to has issues until we get rid of those two files.

Follow these directions exactly:

Download Avenger from here: http://swandog46.geekstogo.com/avenger.zip
Save it to your Desktop.
Extract avenger.exe from the Zip file and save it to your Desktop
Run avenger.exe by double-clicking on it.
Check the 'Input script manually' box.
Click on the magnifying glass icon.
Copy everything in the code box below (don't copy the word "CODE in the box header, just the box contents starting at Files to delete) and paste it in the box that opens:
Now click the 'Done' button.
Click on the traffic light icon and OK the prompt.
You will be prompted to restart, OK the prompt and your PC should reboot, if not, reboot it manually.

Files to delete:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\epragcpt.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnkhgg.dll

Please post a new HijackThis log and the log file from Avenger at C:\avenger.txt

I was able to run that program and it deleted those 2 files at startup. But now i get 2 errors when I boot. "Windows - No Disk" as the title and with some numbers...

I still got a popup as I was opening this page to post. From "CYber Defenders"

I dont know where the avenger log went. I closed it on accident but it basically said those 2 files were deleted sucessfully. I couldnt find it in C:avenger

here is my HJT log:

Nothing showing in the HJT log, it looks clean. See if this information helps with the other problem:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Windows+-+No+Disk+Exception+Processing+Message+c0000013+Parameters+75b6bf9c+4+75b6bf9c+75b6bf9c&btnG=Google+Search

Post an uninstall list:
Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.
(You may edit out Microsoft, Hotfixes, Security Update for Windows XP, Update for Windows XP and Windows XP Hotfix to shorten the list)

I tried saving the uninstall log but it didnt work. When I click that button, it closes HJT entirely just as it did when I tried to use the "delete a file on reboot"

Any suggestions?

I must admit I am getting slightly frustrated, you have not been able to complete many of the basic instructions I have posted. I will take the day off from this one, if you want to continue, remove all tools we have downloaded from the computer. Then do this:

1) http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< download Smitfraudfix from here and follow ONLY these directions.

Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt
Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/processutil/processutil.htm

2) Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix.

Please download VundoFix.exe (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4) to your desktop
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThislogin a reply to this thread.Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

Post the C:\rapport.txt, the vundofix.txt and a new HJT log that is run after vundofix.

This is an option if you would prefer:

Vundofix did find more of the infection and you have infections that were not there before so you are getting reinfected as you go. This junk will download new infections when you are online, you must stay offline until you are clean except for the time you troubleshoot here.

These files were not deleted by Vundofix, so we need to send them to Atribune to be added:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddayw.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfiupko.dll

Please follow these simple directions to upload those files.
If there is a file VundoFix doesn't find we need it submitted. Please submit
the files to upload malware http://www.uploadmalware.com

I may repeat instructions to be sure you have done them. It is important the instructions are followed and it would be best to read them a couple of times so you know what you are doing. I also suggest you print the instructions if possible.

How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

You will now be asked if you would like to reboot your computer to delete the file. Click on the Yes button if you would like to reboot now.

Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.

I followed your instructions. I wasnt able to delete these 2 files:
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddayw.dll <<< delete that file if there

C:\WINDOWS\system32\igfiupko.dll <<< delete that file

but i was able to use HJT and get rid of them with a reboot.

I only go online to post on here. I think I get infected again right when I open IE. I do everything else you mention offline.

Here is the log:
