Hello Tollhase
Welcome to Safer Networking.
Please read Before You Post (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288)
All advice given by anyone volunteering here, is taken at own risk.
While best efforts are made to assist in removing infections safely, unexpected stuff can happen.
You have multiple infections on this system, lets do few things.
We need to disable the Tea Timer in Spybot Search and Destroy as to not interfere with the fix.
Open Spybot and go to Mode> Advanced Mode> Tools> Resident and take the checkmark out of Tea Timer
Download ComboFix from Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.
Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the Combofix log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall
Please download SmitfraudFix (http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.
Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #1 - Search by typing 1 and press "Enter"; a text file will appear, which lists infected files (if present).
Please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply.
This is important , do this before you post a Hijackthis log
C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe<-- Right click on Hijackthis.exe ( looks like a man with a spyglass ) and rename it to Scanner.exe
I need to see the Combofix log, the Smitfraud log and a New HJT log with it renamed please
Tollhase, same day response, still with us?

Hello,
A week ago I asked for help. Someone answered, But my schedule did not allow me to do anything to now. We have 5 users on this system, I have seemed to have removed it all but on my account. I have gone to dos to remove two copies of privacy_danger and privacy_danger(2). It is also showing up in Office recent documents. At start up it looks for Danger, but says it cant find it. Believe me they are still there. I cannot seem to delete those two files at all.
I use spybot, advast from boot.
I am enclosing a copy of hijack this Log.
I will be home till about 5 pm to work on this thing. I probably have messed up windows as it seems to be running very slowly.

Should I be doing anything else. Btw, you all have been a very big help
Richard Keith
Richard,
We go through great pains analyzing your log and working up a fix, what we need you to do is to read what I have posted and follow the instructions. You never ran Combofix like I asked, you are running Option 1 for smitfraud that does not remove anything, it just scans your system and lets us know by the log that you posted if smitfraud is present.
This is what I need you to do. First delete Smitfraud fix and download a newer copy.
You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a Notepad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.
Download SmitfraudFix (http://siri.urz.free.fr/Fix/SmitfraudFix.zip)
Extract the content (a folder named SmitfraudFix) to your Desktop.
Download and install AVG Anti-Spyware Free (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/download-free-anti-spyware/us/frt/0) to your desktop.
Once you have downloaded AVG Anti-Spyware Free , locate the icon on the desktop and double-click it to launch the set up program.
Once the setup is complete you will need run Ewido and update the definition files.
On the main screen select the icon Update then select the Update now link.
Next select the Start Update button, the update will start and a progress bar will show the updates being installed.
Once the update has completed select the Scanner icon at the top of the screen, then select the Settings tab.
Once in the Settings screen click on Recommended actions and then select Quarantine <-- Dont forget this Under Reports
Select Automatically generate report after every scan
Un-Select Only if threats were found
Close AVG Anti-Spyware Free <-- Do not run the scan yet.
Boot your computer into Safemode
Go to Start> Shut Off your Computer> Restart
As the computer starts to boot-up, Tap the F8 KEY somewhat rapidly.
This will bring up a menu.
Use the Up and Down Arrow Keys to scroll up to Safemode
Then press the Enter on your Keyboard
Tutorial if you need it How to boot into Safemode (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html)
Once in Safe Mode, open the SmitfraudFix folder again and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #2 - Clean by typing 2 and press "Enter" to delete infected files.
You will be prompted : "Registry cleaning - Do you want to clean the registry ?"; answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter" in order to remove the Desktop background and clean registry keys associated with the infection.
The tool will now check if wininet.dll is infected. You may be prompted to replace the infected file (if found); answer "Yes" by typing Y and press "Enter".
The tool may need to restart your computer to finish the cleaning process; if it doesn't, please restart into normal Windows.
A text file will appear onscreen, with results from the cleaning process; please copy/paste the content of that report into your next reply along with a new HijackThis log.
The report can also be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt
Launch AVG Anti-Spyware Free by double-clicking the icon on your desktop.
Select the Scanner icon at the top and then the Scan tab then click on Complete System Scan.
AVG will now begin the scanning process, be patient this may take a little time.
Once the scan is complete do the following:
If you have any infections you will prompted, then select Apply all actions
Next select the Reports icon at the top.
Select the Save report as button in the lower left hand of the screen and save it to a text file on your system
make sure to remember where you saved that file, this is important
Close AVG Anti-Spyware Free
IMPORTANT: Do not open any other windows or programs while AVG is scanning, it may interfere with the scanning process:
Reboot normally.
Open the SmitfraudFix folder and double-click smitfraudfix.cmd
Select option #3 - Delete Trusted zone by typing 3 and press Enter
Answer Yes to the question "Restore Trusted Zone ?" by typing Y and hit Enter.
Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE-SPYAD, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE-SPYAD, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.
Please download ATF Cleaner (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=1) by Atribune to your desktop.
This program is for XP and Windows 2000 only
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up
Post the log from Smitfraud fix, the AVG Spyware log and a New HJT log please

I understand the time you take and appreciate it. I had seen the part about smithfraud fix, selected 1 and than the fix option. in safe mode. What I had last sent you was after this. Things seemed better. I will start over as I presume that I am not totally better.
I am certain by your response, you have not heard me blessing the help you have given me to everyone whom have heard me complain about the virus.
Thanks
Richard Keith

Privacy Danger is no longer on your log , but lets be sure.
We need to make sure all hidden files are showing :
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.
Once your system is clean, we suggest that you reverse this to keep critical windows files from accidently being deleted.
See if these two are still present and delete them if they are, let me know if they were and if you could delete them.

C:\WINDOWS\privacy_danger(2)
The rest of your log looks fine, how are things running now??

yes those two files say I cant touch them. They are either write protected or in memory. Have tried removing them from safe, no luck. tried Dos com to change attributes. no luck.
As to how its running, pretty good. Slower as you suggested. One interesting note, when i click on bug report in spybot, it wont automatically to , I have to type in the address?
Thanks
Do this.
Download Pocket Killbox (http://www.majorgeeks.com/Pocket_KillBox_d4709.html) to your desktop.
Highlight all the files with the complete path inside the quote and press Ctrl C on your keyboard.
C:\WINDOWS\privacy_danger
C:\WINDOWS\privacy_danger(2)
Open Pocket Killbox
Go to File > Paste from clipboard
Set it to Delete on Reboot
Tick the box that says End Explorer shell while killing file
If its not greyed out..Click the radio button that say Unregister .dll before deleting.
Make sure ALL Files is selected
Click on the Red circle with the white X
It will ask you to confirm the deletion...Say yes
It will ask you to reboot, say yes
If you get a message "pending operations has been stopped by external process!" then reboot the computer manually.
After you reboot, see if there gone and let me know.
As far as Spybot, when we are done you can post in the forum for Spybot, its run by the people that specialize in that program

Hello Ken,
Tried the program as you suggested. Those two are still there.
As for the link question. This goes for all links, not just the one in spybot.
Thanks,
Richard Keith
