I posted yesterday, but my Kaspersky scan was too long so I responded to my own post and after reading some other posts have realized that it may have been a mistake, since helpers look for posts with no replies. I will post just the HJT log this time, sorry for any confusion.

Hello Strutter71
Welcome to Safer Networking.
Please read Before You Post (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288)
All advice given by anyone volunteering here, is taken at own risk.
While best efforts are made to assist in removing infections safely, unexpected stuff can happen.
Please reply to this thread only and not start a new topic or you will be all over the forum and we wont be able to keep track of you.
NeopetsToolbar This is not recommended, you can read about and then I would uninstall it via the Add Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
http://www.castlecops.com/clsid-4417.html
Viewpoint <-- This is not malicious but installs without your knowledge or consent, uses system resources and is not needed, you can uninstall this one also.
I am not seeing any Vundo on your log, not to say its not present as the thieves that write Vundo have written it to evade a HJT scan and by renaming it to something else, if Vundo is present it will then show up on your log, so do this.
C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe<-- Right click on Hijackthis.exe ( looks like a man with a spyglass ) and rename it to Scanner.exe
There is also one item of concern that I never saw before and am looking into it.
So at this point, uninstall those programs, rename HJT and post a new log please.

OK, I have uninstalled the programs and renamed HJT.
I should note that after removing the programs and rebooting, Norton immediately detected a virus. It has done this every time I log on for the last few days. This time it said "downloader." Sometimes it says "vundo," but it didn't this time. Also, every time I run Spybot it finds 3 entries for Virtumonde that won't go away and I am getting hammered with popups.
Thanks for any help you can give!
Here is my new HJT log:

Good Morning,
You are infected with Vundo :red: You can compare both your original log and the current one and you will see additional entries that are all Vundo.
Download VundoFix (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4 ) to your desktop
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

Good morning!
OK, I ran vundofix and rebooted. Upon reboot, Norton popped up and detected vundo again. I ran vundofix a second time, rebooted, and Norton found vundo again. Rather than get caught going around in circles, I just ran HJT so here are the results of the 2 vundo scans and the new HJT. By the way, spybot keeps popping up and saying it detected a registry key change. It's always a bunch of random letters ending in .dll. How should I be handling these, or will it just stop once vundo is gone?
Here are the scans:

Hello,
Getting rid of this garbage takes a few more steps, the thieves that write this stuff are constantly adding new files. Lets not worry about what Norton is finding right now, there is still more to do.
Do this please, this scan may only take about 10 min.
Download ComboFix from Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.
Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the Combofix log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Here is the combofix log, followed by a new HJT log:

Hello Again,
We need to make sure all hidden files are showing :
Click Start.
Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View tab.
Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck the Hide file extensions for known types option.
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm.
Click OK.
Once your system is clean, we suggest that you reverse this to keep critical windows files from accidently being deleted.
Open Notepad and copy all the text inside the quote box by highlighting it all and pressing CTRL C on your keyboard, then paste it into Notepad

Save this as CFScript to your desktop.
Then drag the CFScript into ComboFix.exe as you see in the screenshot below.
http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c30/ken545/CFScript.gif
This will start ComboFix again. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), post the contents of Combofix.txt in your next reply together with a new HijackThis log.
I am sure these are bad but lets make sure
Go to this site Jotti Upload (http://virusscan.jotti.org/) and under the browse feature, browse to these files.
C:\WINDOWS\system32\gfatnsol.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\fnrfeopo.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system\apnsvc.exe
Then click on Submit and it will give you a report for each file , post the reports in your next reply.

Lets do this, i am going to show you how to restore an entry that we removed with HJT in case there is a problem.
To restore the backups:
Open HiJackThis
Click on "View the list of Backups"
Place a check mark next to anything you want to restore
Click Restore
Click Yes
Reboot your computer
Open Spybot and go to Mode> Advanced Mode> Tools> Resident and take the checkmark out of Tea Timer
Reboot your system for this to take effect.
Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows including this one, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [65c4b349] rundll32.exe "C:\WINDOWS\system32\evocjelw.dll",b
O23 - Service: Application Layer Browser (APPLMSVC) - Unknown owner - C:\WINDOWS\system\apnsvc.exe (file missing)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\evocjelw.dll<-- Delete this file
Your Java is out of date and leaving your system vulnerable.
Go to your Add-Remove Programs in the Control Panel and uninstall any previous versions of Java (J2SE Runtime Environment)
It should have an icon next to it:
http://users.telenet.be/bluepatchy/miekiemoes/images/javaicon.jpg
Select it and click Remove.
Reboot your system.
Then go to the Sun Microsystems (http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp) and install the update
Java Runtime Environment Version 6 Update 2 <--This is what you need to download and install.
If you chose the online installation, it will prompt you to run the program.
If you chose the offline installation, you will be prompted to save the file and you can run it from wherever you saved it.
Then after install you can verify your installation here Sun Java Verify (http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp)
I like to to do the offline installation and save the setup file in case I may need it in the future
Post a new HJT log and let me know how your system is behaving now??

OK, I have completed all of the above. My computer seems to be back to its old self: running fast, no popups, Norton is not detecting anything, and Spybot no longer detects Virtumonde. Here is the latest HJT log so you can see what it looks like now:

It was already stopped. I went ahead and changed it to disabled anyway. Also, I looked at the tab labled "dependencies" and it said it had no dependencies.
System is behaving normally. No popups or Norton warnings.

Log looks good :bigthumb: What I will do is keep this thread open for a week or so in case you need to post back, I am still waiting for info on that service we disabled, I am sure its bad. I will post back also when I get updated info on it.
In the meantime.............
Malware Complaints (http://malwarecomplaints.info/index.php)
Are you mad ? I mean really mad, seething mad, so mad your ready to spit, mad that you have taken your hard earned dollars to buy a computer only to have some Miscredents, Dirt Bags and Cyber Criminals install a malicious program on your computer without your knowledge or consent. You can post your complaint at the above site. If you live in the U.S.A. you can also report your grievance to your State Attorney Generals Office and the Federal Trade Commission's Bureau of Consumer Protection.
How did I get infected in the first place ? Read these links and find out how to prevent getting infected again.
Tutorial for System Restore (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial56.html) <-- Do this first to prevent yourself from being reinfected.

Dslreports (http://www.dslreports.com/faq/10002)
Here are some free programs to install, these are must haves to help keep you secure
Spybot Search and Destroy 1.4 (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/download/)
Check for Updates/ Immunize and run a Full System Scan on a regular basis.
Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html) It will prevent most spyware from ever being installed.
Spyware Guard (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html) It offers realtime protection from spyware installation attempts.
Win Patrol (http://www.winpatrol.com/download.html) This program will warn you when any changes are being made to your system and give
you the option to deny the change.
IE-Spyad (http://forums.windowsforum.org/index.php?showtopic=6640)
IE-Spyad places over 4000 web sites and domains in the IE Restricted list which will severely impair attempts to infect your system. It basically prevents any downloads
(cookies etc) from the sites listed, although you will still be able to connect to the sites.
Firefox 2.0 (http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/) It has more features and is a lot more secure than IE. It is a very easy and
painless download and install, it will no way interfere with IE, you can use them both.
Zone Alarm (http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_description/0,fid,7228,00.asp) Here is a free Firewall from Zone Labs, I
wouldn't access the internet without it.
Glad we could help

I have successfully submitted the file. I'll check back again to see if I need to follow up on anything.
Thanks again, the computer is running great!
Thank you very much for that. Keeping up with the dirtbags that write this garbage is a never ending process.
I will keep in touch and let you know what I find out.
Ken:bigthumb:
Thanks for being patient, it looks like the file you uploaded was zero bites so not much to worry about, but we need to delete the service.
Go to Start> Run and paste this in and hit enter.
sc delete APPLMSVC
If you feel your system is running ok then thats it, if not we can check further.
