If you still need help, remove this old version of HJT from your computer.
C:\Documents and Settings\arcbell1\Desktop\Hijackthis\HijackThis.exe
Post a new HJT log:
Download Trend Micro Hijack This™
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/hijackthis/HJTInstall.exe
Doubleclick the HJTInstall.exe to start it.
By default it will install HijackThis in the Program Files\Trendmicro folder and create a desktop shortcut.
HijackThis will open after install. Press the Scan button below.
This will start the scan and open a log.
Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.
If I get no response i'll close the topic in a couple of days.
Thanks

Because all of this information is very old, I will want to start over, please read the directions again.
1) Make sure your version of Spybot S&D is up to date and fully immunized. If Spybot then finds stuff it can not remove, post here for help with the Spybot issues:
http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=4 <<< Spybot forum
http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=16 <<< false positives
2) Do not run and post the Kaspersky scan results until I request them.
3) Delete any version of Smitfraudfix you have on your computer.
4) Thanks to LonnyBJones and anyone else who helped with this fix.
Please download FixWareout from one of these sites:
http://downloads.subratam.org/Fixwareout.exe
http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/files/lonny/Fixwareout.exe
Save it to your Desktop and run it. Click Next, then Install, make sure "Run fixit" is checked and click Finish.
The fix will begin; follow the prompts.
You will be asked to reboot your computer; please do so.
Your system may take longer than usual to load; this is normal.
Once the desktop loads post the text that will open (report.txt) in the forum please.
5) http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< download Smitfraudfix from here and follow ONLY these directions.
Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt
Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/processutil/processutil.htm
Post only the report from Fixwareout and the C:\rapport.txt from Smitfraudfix.
Add any comments you think will help.
Thanks

Thanks for returning your information and the feedback, we call the infection Smitfraud and it was evident in earlier scans with Smitfraudfix, but a run of the newest version is clean, so looks like it was all removed. Let's have Kaspersky take a look now to make sure nothing is hiding.
Before you run the scan, remove Fixwareout and Smitfraudfix from your computer.
Run this online scan using Internet Explorer:
Kaspersky Online Scanner from http://www.kaspersky.com/virusscanner
Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner
You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
* Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
* Standard
* Scan Options:
* Scan Archives
* Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.
Then post it here.
Thanks

It's running normally, but something that is bothering me, is that when i scanned using Kaspersky Online Scan before i set it to standard, it said it caught 4 viruses. The location was C:/RECYCLER or something like that. Would that be the Recycle Bin or should i send you the report of it?
pskelley
2007-11-08, 00:19
C:/RECYCLER <<< that's the Recycle Bin on your Desktop. Right click on it and click "Empty Recycle Bin" and Yes/OK.
