Re: Anti spyware, each program seems to have its own system restore just as windows does.
Should all be activated or none and just depend upon windows?

I don't want conflicts, e.x. constant protection called by various names like realtime or teatimer or active shield = only one should be on. I keep the realtime protection in my Ncafee seurity suite on.

Thank you for your help

Hello.

Re: Anti spyware, each program seems to have its own system restore just as windows does.

As it is likely that 2 active registry/file guards would come into conflict with each other, it is best to choose one resident protection guard.

How Spybot-S&D protects against the installation of Spyware/Malware. (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=281)

Once you choose which anti spyware program's resident will allow or deny registry changes, decide whether or not to do a registry back up in that application.

So that you can undo the changes you might make using that particular program.

Windows System Restore is a bit different, for XP:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306084

http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_restore.htm

Hope that helps. :)

Edit.
General note for anyone:
Please do not turn off System Restore trying to remove an infection. Doing so would only serve to destroy a known restore point (not good) and won't remove the malware. If seeking advice in our Malware Removal Forum (http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=22) let your helper advise you as to when a System Restore flush is called for.

I have one running and when issues arise I always come to the forums for help.
I usually create a restore point for changes like new programs and sometimes even when I run a full scan.
Thank you for your help.
