I have downloaded all recommended anti-spyware/anti-virus apps, but the pop-ups are relentless. I even ran Spybot and Ad-Aware in safe mode, but afterwards everything comes back up. ZoneAlarm detected and deleted a BHO, but right away the program responsible for it spat it back at me. As soon as I click "Remove the BHO", the message box comes right back asking me if I want to delete it or not. Vicious cycle.
I unchecked "TeaTimer" in Spybot as per one thread I read.
I renamed HiJackThis to "showme.exe" and saved the log:

Welcome to Safer Networking.
Sorry you had to wait but most times it get crazy around here. You can hold off on the Kaspersky report right now, I will let you know if we need to run it later. Good job renaming Hijackthis, the purpose is that the thieves that have written Vundo have written it to evade a HJT scan and by renaming it if vundo is present it will then show up on your log. Also thanks for disabling the TeaTimer, it may prevent the fixes from working, you can re enable when we are done if you wish.
Your infected with the Vundo Trojan :red: Lets do this.
Download VundoFix (http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4 ) to your desktop
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log in a reply to this thread.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.
Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows including this one, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.

Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Under Main choose: Select All
Click the Empty Selected button.
Your system may start up slower after running ATF Cleaner, this is expected but will be back to normal after the first or second boot up

Thank you so much for your timely response and helpful advice! There are no more pop-ups, toolbar, or shortcuts on my desktop! I did notice that the toolbar "11A69AE4..." matches the Security Toolbar 7.1 only this time is says "no name". Should I be concerned? I also noticed one or two BHO's w/o names. Other than that, the system seems calm and virus-free. Thanks again. You saved my life! :red:

Run VundoFix again:
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once the scan is complete, Right Click inside the listbox (white box) and click add more files
Copy&Paste the files listed below into the boxes
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ayynhvob.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddccb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\pmnliij.dll
Click Add Files and Click Close Window
Click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
Remove these with HJT.

I sought help here last week and someone helped me to get rid of Vundo Trojan, but there are two dll files in particular that can't be deleted because they are being "used by another application". I ran Vundofix.exe again and it turned up no infected files. After that I ran HiJackThis again and here is my log:

Can I find out which program(s) use(s) pmnliij.dll and ddccb.dll? I've checked all over the net and everything says these two dll files are assocaited with the Vundo trojan.
Also, I still have pop-ups every time I click to a page -- any page.

Just reply to this thread only by using the Submit Reply or else you will be all over the forum and we wont be able to keep track of you.
We need to disable the Tea Timer in Spybot Search and Destroy as to not interfere with the fix.
Open Spybot and go to Mode> Advanced Mode> Tools> Resident and take the checkmark out of Tea TimerThen reboot your computer for it to take effect
Run VundoFix again:
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once the scan is complete, Right Click inside the listbox (white box) and click add more files
Copy&Paste the 2 entries below into the top 2 boxes
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pmnliij.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ddccb.dll
Click Add Files and Click Close Window
Click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Please post the contents of C:\vundofix.txt and a new HiJackThis log.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot.
Download ComboFix from Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop.
Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post the Combofix log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply
Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Sorry, I was on vacation. Thanks for the additional help and follow-up.
I wasn't able to download ComboFix because it said that version had expired. I even tried a different website and got the same result. I was able to deleteddccb.dll with VundoFix, however pmnliij.dll coujld not be deleted. VundoFix help asking me to restart my computer. I did that a few times and finally ran HJT and got rid of it that way. The log shows it. wasn't able to get rid of GEEDA.DLL, which I found out is another Vundo file.

As a result of the VundoFix problem, I wasn't able to pull up a new log.

You have to understand a few things, first off when you have an infection like you have we need to work to remove it, removing part of it and not posting for a week or so just lets this stuff download more of it.
The second thing is that a lot of thought goes into these fixes and the things we post for you to do are for a reason, if not we would not post them, you never disabled the Tea Timer like I asked.
You need to disable the Tea Timer in Spybot Search and Destroy or it may prevent the fixes from taking.
1. Run Spybot-S&D in Advanced Mode.
2. If it is not already set to do this Go to the Mode menu select "Advanced Mode"
3. On the left hand side, Click on Tools
4. Then click on the Resident Icon in the List
5. Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts.
6. Restart your computer.
Open HijackThis > Do a System Scan Only, close your browser and all open windows including this one, the only program or window you should have open is HijackThis, check the following entries and click on Fix Checked.

Drag Vundofix to the trash as there is a newer version.
