The first thing I see is this:
http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=12880&postcount=2
C:\Program Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_03\ <<< this is VERY outdated and likely why you got infected. Download the newest version of Java and uninstall all old versions in Add Remove Programs.
It is obvious to me that you have run tools to try to remove this junk. I need to know what tools you have run.
Let's do this while I wait for that information:
1) TeaTimer will block changes we must make, use these instruction to turn it off until we are done.
http://russelltexas.com/malware/teatimer.htm
2) Open Hijackthis.
Click the "Open the Misc Tools" section Button.
Click the "Open Uninstall Manager" Button.
Click the "Save list..." Button.
Save it to your desktop. Copy and paste the contents into your reply.
(You may edit out Microsoft, Hotfixes, Security Update for Windows XP, Update for Windows XP and Windows XP Hotfix to shorten the list)
3) http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.php <<< download Smitfraudfix from here and follow ONLY these directions.
Search:
Double-click SmitfraudFix.exe
Select 1 and hit Enter to create a report of the infected files. The report can be found at the root of the system drive, usually at C:\rapport.txt
Note: process.exe is detected by some antivirus programs (AntiVir, Dr.Web, Kaspersky) as a "RiskTool". It is not a virus, but a program used to stop system processes. Antivirus programs cannot distinguish between "good" and "malicious" use of such programs, therefore they may alert the user.
http://www.beyondlogic.org/consulting/processutil/processutil.htm
Post the C:\rapport.txt, the uninstall list and any other information I requested.
Thanks
Kaspersky scan <<< while you wait do this:
C:\Documents and Settings\Anya Martin\.housecall6.6\Quarantine\ <<< delete the contents of that quarantine folder
C:\Documents and Settings\Anya Martin\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\ <<< delete the contents of that folder
C:\Program Files\Windows NT\zysomagoc.html <<< delete that file
Hello again,
Before contacting the forum:
1. Owner(my daughter) was remiss in having no AV protection then problems occurred.
2. Ran AdAware many times.
3. Downloaded & ran AVAST.
4. Ran Spybot S&D many times.
5. I uninstalled AVAST and installed & ran extra copy of Norton AV I had.
6. Problems remained (Popup browsers, etc.). Only Spybot identified Smitfraud, Virtumonde.
7. Spybot was never able to fix the last smitfraud registry key(in use) even on bootup.
8. I then began unskilled thrashing about after some web reading:
a. ran REGEDIT to 'fix' core reg key
b. Noticing presence of Internet Speed Monitor windows, I deleted its folder at least once.
c. Ran some web-based scan removal tool(can't remember)
9. Then i discovered your forum. BTW unsolicited popup windows have stopped since I registered. I can't explain.
Here are uninstall and rapport (in 2 parts if necessary). Will run Kaspersky scan and delete items as you directed.
Thanks again.

Thanks for the feedback, is it like the tooth stops hurting when you get to the dentist?
Please do not run and post another Kaspersky scan until I ask for it, just clean the stuff that was showing in the first scan so we don't have to look at it in the next one.
Internet Speed Monitor << I am not sure what this is, if you do not want in on the computer, it should be uninstalled in Add Remove programs.
As far as I can see the only other issue in the uninstall list is this:
Viewpoint Media Player <<< it is not malware but read about it.
For your information, Viewpoint is installed by aol probably without your knowledge. I suggest you uninstall this resource waster in Add Remove programs.

http://www.spywareinfo.com/newsletter/archives/2005/nov4.php#viewpoint
http://www.clickz.com/news/article.php/3561546
Smitfraudfix is clean, remove that program from your computer.
Before we run any tools, let give HJT a go, like this.
Do you know what this is? C:\Program Files\QdrPack\QdrPack9.exe
If not, let's remove it.
1) Start > Contral Panel > Add Remove Programs and uninstall QdrPack
2) How to make files and folders visible:
Click Start > Open My Computer.
Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.
Select the View Tab. Under the Hidden files and folders heading, select Show hidden files and folders.
Uncheck: Hide file extensions for known file types
Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.
Click Yes to confirm. Click OK.
You may reverse this for safety when we are finished.
3) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.
4) TeaTimer will block changes we must make, use these instruction to turn it off until we are done.
http://russelltexas.com/malware/teatimer.htm
5) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"
6) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:
C:\Program Files\QdrPack\ <<< delete that folder
7) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.
Restart, post a new HJT log and give me some feedback.
Thanks
Back again.
Removed ViewPoint, Smitfraudfix. I never heard of QdrPack (or QdrModule either) and it's not shown on Add/Remove list. Later simply deleted QdrPack folder.
Did system scan by HijackThis checking all designated items except two which were missing (04 ... RunOnce & 024... Zysomagoc.html)
Ran ATF cleaner.
Restarted and ran HJT producing this log:

Next Click on Launch Kaspersky Online Scanner
You will be prompted to install an ActiveX component from Kaspersky, Click Yes.
* The program will launch and then begin downloading the latest definition files:
* Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
* Now click on Scan Settings
* In the scan settings make that the following are selected:
* Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
* Standard
* Scan Options:
* Scan Archives
* Scan Mail Bases
* Click OK
* Now under select a target to scan:
* Select My Computer
* This will program will start and scan your system.
* The scan will take a while so be patient and let it run.
* Once the scan is complete it will display if your system has been infected.
* Now click on the Save as Text button:
* Save the file to your desktop.

If you are reading this information...thank a teacher,
If you are reading it in English...thank a soldier.
Many thanks for the excellent support and the great links. The external manifestations of malware are now gone and everything looks fine and yet....
AV finds nothing and AdAware cleans all but, as before, Spybot finds Smitfraud and Virtumonde Generic. It is unable to correct a Smifraud registry key either in Windows or at restart time. Here are its results:

Try here for Spybot S&D issues, make sure you are up to date and fully immunized when you run it first!
http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=4 <<< Spybot forum
http://forums.spybot.info/forumdisplay.php?f=16 <<< false positives
Thanks
Spybot 1.5.1.15 run with Immunize updated produced same result: Smitfraud-c.coreservices item unfixable. Also, though Virtumonde Generic is fixed, it will always come back later.
Are your links suggesting I submit a potential false positive report?
Regards,
Charlie

Charlie, those folks will know a lot more about these Spybot finding that I do, try posting at the first link, they will know if they are false positives. You can post a link to your topic here if you will, I would like to see what they have to say.
Thanks...Phil
OK. I'll post at the first link and keep you informed.
Charlie
Phil
I posted at the first link (http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=20153)
where it was suggested I pursue it here.
Perhaps my approach was wrong.
