malware/smitfraud problem

I have some sort of infection causing system alert bubbles to pop-up referring to a back door trojan. the common name i am seeing is spyware.cyberlog-x as well as a

I have run adaware, spyware doctor, and nod32 scans but nothing seems to be able to remove it. I thought it was a smitfraud problem, and tried the newest smitfraudfix but that was unable to solve it either. Spyware doctor and nod find trojans that they say they remove, but everytime i restart they are still there. amendment - it also popups a msg of "psw.x-vir trojan"

it is also popping up 2 desktop icons

one is an online security guide (ink)
the second is a live safety center (ink)

as these popup, nod32 says it deletes them, but they just keep re-appearing.

any help anyone can give me would be GREATLY appreciated. i am out of ideas.

i just tried restarting in safe mode, running a full scan with avg, which found 2 trojans that i removed, and then ran smitfraudfix. after restarting, all of the popups are still there and nothing has changed.
