OK, so the vundo problem continues. I used Spybot Sd to again attempt to clear up the issue, it found three instances in the registry which were duly deleted, however i have since noticed a new BHO which is called:

gebbxyv.dll

So it seems as if vundo is spreading, any help would be very gratefully appreciated!

Welcome to Safer Networking, I wish to be sure you have viewed and understand this information.
"BEFORE you POST" (READ this Procedure before Requesting Assistance)
http://forums.spybot.info/showthread.php?t=288
All advice given is taken at your own risk.
Please make sure you have read this information so we are on the same page.

Sounds like you have a Vundo infection which can be very hard to remove. This will take some time and unless you are patient, understand how to follow directions and are comfortable working on your computer, you may want to seek local professional help. If you wish to proceed, read and follow the directions carefully.

1) These infections will download more, so stay offline except when troubleshooting until I say you are clean.

2) Thanks to Atribune and any others who helped with this fix.

http://vundofix.atribune.org/ <<< tutorial

"Download VundoFix" to your Desktop

http://www.atribune.org/ccount/click.php?id=4

Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
When VundoFix opens, click the Scan for Vundo button.
Once it's done scanning, click the Remove Vundo button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove.
In this case, VundoFix will attempt run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click
the Scan for Vundo button." when VundoFix appears at reboot. Vundofix.txt will be on the C:\

2) Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.
Download ComboFix from Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/sectools/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) or Here (http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe) to your Desktop

Double click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.
When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Post that log and a HiJackthis log in your next reply

Note: Do not mouseclick combofix's window while its running. That may cause it to stall

Post the Vundofix.txt, combofix log and a new HJT log

Thanks

I carried out the tasks as you set out.

Vundo Fix found nothing and did not produce a log.

Thanks, see this: http://forums.spybot.info/showpost.php?p=12880&postcount=2
Uninstall the old Java versions in Add Remove programs, they will get you infected.

1) Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune
http://www.atribune.org/content/view/25/2/
Save it to your Desktop. We will use this later.

2) Open a new notepad window
Paste the list of files from the quote box below into the notepad window.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebbxyv.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\qrpbhuue.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\euuhbprq.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\rfasynlm.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\gjrafamw.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nmskpden.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nedpksmn.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\pokicidc.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\cdicikop.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebbxyv.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ejnyjusy.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ysujynje.dll

Save this as vundofix.vft and Save as type "all files".
Double-click VundoFix.exe to run it.
Drag vundofix.vft onto the listbox (white box) of VundoFix.
Click the "Remove Vundo" button.
You will receive a prompt asking if you want to remove the files, click YES
Once you click yes, your desktop will go blank as it starts removing Vundo.
When completed, it will prompt that it will reboot your computer, click OK.
Note: It is possible that VundoFix encountered a file it could not remove. In this case, VundoFix will run on reboot, simply follow the above instructions starting from "Click the Scan for Vundo button" when VundoFix appears upon rebooting.

3) Open HijackThis and choose "Do a system scan only" then check the box in front of these line items:

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {B7F23CD8-B73E-4507-84BC-0D9ACCCE9587} - (no file)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {ED203331-9C33-49D8-8714-D24A366A04EC} - C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebbxyv.dll
O20 - Winlogon Notify: gebbxyv - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\gebbxyv.dll

Close all programs but HJT and all browser windows, then click on "Fix Checked"

4) RIGHT Click on Start then click on Explore. Locate and delete these items:

C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\gebbxyv.dll <<< check to make sure that one is gone

5) Run ATF Cleaner
Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
Click the Empty Selected button.
Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

Restart the computer, post the Vundofix report and a new HJT log. Let me know how the computer is running now.

Thanks

That is a clean Kaspersky scan, no need to post them when they are clean. Please tell me what issues you are still experiecing, the program that is telling you about problems and the location of the problem if possible, include a new HJT log if issues still exist.

Thanks

Kelly,

Internet explorer is currently running the BHO awtsr.dll, dlwqhoci.dll as well as gebbxyv.dll.
The windows explorer bar sporadically dissapears and reapears when the internet is in use.
Also the computer has frozen twice and displayed an red screen.
The wireless internet icon has vanished from the tray area, as well as the battery monitor.
The CPU is reporting to be running at high capacity for no real reason.
The HJT log is below

Thanks, I did say it would be hard to remove, but this one is really rough. Make sure you are
keeping the computer offline, the junk will download more. We will start over to be sure we do not miss anything, delete Vundofix and combofix completely from your computer and download them new from the links I provide, start like this.

1) C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe <<< rename HJT, call it tomlinsa.exe

(wait until you finish to post reports and logs)

3) Thanks to sUBs and anyone else who helped with this fix.

Post the Vundofix.txt, combofix log and a new HJT log.

Thanks

tomlinsa

Open Vundofix by Doubleclicking on it, then point your mouse to the white box above the buttons and right click, then click on Add More Files. When the
next window opens, copy and paste the files into the boxes and click on Add File(s), then click on Close Window. Then click Remove Vundo.

(files to add)
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kemwwugr.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\vijmcqwd.ini
C:\WINDOWS\system32\ulrboytt.ini

Enable hidden files&folders..reverse the process when finished.
http://www.xtra.co.nz/help/0,,4155-1916458,00.html

Navigate to and delete these files:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\mcrh.tmp <<< delete the file

C:\DOCUMENTS & SETTINGS~1\tomlinsa\LOCALSETTINGS~1\Temp\ctfpqrqe.dll <<< delete the contents of that Temp folder, that file must go!

Run Clean Manager
http://spyware-free.us/tutorials/cleanmgr/

Restart and post the Vundofix report, and let me know about any issues now.

Thanks

Is there anyway to restore the system tray icons that vanished in the process of deleting vundo? I am missing my battery monitor icon, and wireless internet connection monitor.

Here is information that may help with the System Tray missing items.

http://windowsxp.mvps.org/trayicons.htm
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_tweaks.htm

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=restore+system+tray+icons&btnG=Google+Search

Post a new Kaspersky scan so we can be sure nothing is hiding.

Thanks

Is there a way to load and use kaspersky onto my pc from another pc so that i can avoid opening an internet connection on the potentially infected pc?

Not that I know of, just update your resident antivirus program and run a complete system scan. Let me know if McAfee finds anything.

Thanks
