hi,

that log looks like traffic having to do with your router. in some cases svchost.exe processes need internet access. any other info in the comodo log?

you have to many anti-malware apps running.

i see:

a squared
avg anti-spyware
spybot
spyware terminator
BOclean

i know avg and spybots tea timer both offer "real time protection" having apps that provide the same function will only chew up system resources and give you no additional "security' benefit. I think 2 anti-malware apps would be plenty, others may not think so. More isnt better in this case.
the hjt log looks ok.

Hi Shelf life,

Thanks for your advices. Did some clean-up and uninstalled a few anti-malware tools. However I ran trend-micro house-call and it says that I'm infected with "dialer_playgames".

hi noregreb,

ok thanks for the info. i would say the online scan is a false positive. with all the malware apps you had surely something as a generic as a dialer would have been flagged by one of them. does the trend-micro scan provide the location of the file on your computer?

this:
C:\System Volume
Information\_restore

are your system restore points. once it all looks good we can clean them out and make a new one.

HI Shelf life.

I removed everythinhg except comodo (Firewall) Avast (Antivirus) and Spybot. Yes I do have restore point but I have no idea since when this situation is going on.

My son also have admin privilege on this machine and I suspect that my problem is related to some stuff he had previously installed for playing games : Bots / Gameguard ... or something with similar behavior. I have tried to uninstall both but I read somewhere that it is very difficult to coppletely unsinstall because it runs under a legitimate system process. Any idea or suggestion ??

hi,

i would think that a protection app like gameguard would be uninstalled only if you uninstalled the game, via the add/remove programs panel.
some games might have patches/fixes that can be downloaded to fix certain problems. keep it updated.
they can be very invasive, rootkit like even.

its (gameguard)not the cause of any malware problem. your logs look ok. could it cause other computer problems, being so invasive i would say yes.

your son should be careful in what he downloads and installs, if hes looking for cheats etc for the game they might be nothing but malware.

is spybot coming up clean when you do a scan?

Hi Shelf Life

I only have one computer on the LAN side as well as a WII console connected on the air interface of the router. THe problem is always there even when I turn the air interface off and disconnect the WAN cable ont the router. THe problem definetely comes from my computer.

SPyBot doens't see anything when I scan.

Does doing a system restore at an earlier date (let's say 4 months back) would help me ??

Is there anything else I could try ??

hi,

THe problem definetely comes from my computer

you mean what trend-micro is finding in the online scan?
dialer_playgames?

normally after malware removal its best practice to delete and make a new restore point.

No,

You said earlier that you thought it was a false positive ... I believe you were right.

I have uninstalled the extra antimalware re-run trend micro and "dialer_playgames" doen't come up again. But the port scanning continue and as per my last post, I am sure it comes from a process on my computer: there is nothing else connected on my router!

Any suggestion ???

hi noregreb,

am sure it comes from a process on my computer

i have never used comodo's firewall. most likely this is a harmless blocking of a process from your computer. the ip 192.168.1.1 is a linksys routers webpage IP. There is alot of traffic that goes on between a computer and a router.
svchost.exe could actually be alot of different processes.
i suggest you post or search thru the comodo firewall forum, they would much better at giving you a answer than I, and could tell you exactly what to do for the constant blocking.
