View Full Version : Spybot Hosts file prevents internet connection

I just installed Spybot 1.5.0.9 yesterday and when I "immunized" my system, the hosts file that Spybot creates prevented me from logging into the internet via my ADSL modem. I took a quick look at the file but there are far too many entries for me to find the one that's causing the problem and comment it out with a '#' character at the beginning of the line. Any ideas about what to look for?

I had to revert to my original hosts file in order to gain internet access again. If I hadn't remembered that Spybot creates a new hosts file, I would have logged a support call to my ISP.

Also, using Spybot's hosts file made just about everything crash (program error), including Windows explorer. I'd never go to the few sites I did pay attention to in Spybot's hosts file anyway, so I guess I can live without it. It just takes forever for my network connections to be prepared by Windows at boot time, so maybe I don't need this headache.
