View Full Version : Can't access internet-how do I get anti-virus software
Help! I can't download any anti-malware because I can't get on the internet. Can I save it to CD and then take it to the infected computer?
A tricky situation, most AntiVirus and AntiSpyware need updating once installed.
Is it malware that has caused the loss of internet ?
If so, you will be best helped in the malware room.
Explain the situation, that way the helper can give a series of instructions rather than one at a time.
I just got the computer back after my son wiped out everything by doing a system restore. I haven't had a chance to load any anti-virus and the kids went somewhere and picked up bugs. Now when it is turned on it tries to load windows and can't even finish doing that much - the "Start" command in the lower left corner doesn't even get there. I have received messages saying to down load this and that because I have malware, trojans, popups, and spyware, but I can't get on the internet to do it. Is there a way to download this stuff from another computer and burn it to disc and then take it home and load it?
It sounds like a system restore is needed again
This page AVG (http://free.grisoft.com/doc/downloads-products/us/frt/0?prd=aff)
Has the scanner, and the latest updates.
You can download these to another PC and transfer them by disc.
I would also recommend a firewall.
PS the messages telling you to download things are probably malware !!!!
do not click those messages
Ok, I burned a CD and I will try that.
Thanks!
